Swissôtel Shanghai Hongqiao

Swissôtel is rapidly diversifying across greater china, adding new Swissôtel living apartments.

The Shanghai Hongqiao Gubei Business Development Area is undergoing a transformation, with new infrastructure and amenities to upgrade the area for residents and create a business focal point in western Shanghai and the Yangtze River Delta. The Hongqiao Gubei area, long recognized as an attractive commercial and residential destination, is flourishing with an increasing density of street level boutiques, restaurants and bars, sycamore trees and green space, and more community initiatives to draw tourists and local visitors.

Accor announces the signing of the new hotel, located within the burgeoning Shanghai Hongqiao Gubei Business Development Area, adjacent to the Caohejing Economic and Technological Development Zone. This prime location will appeal to both business and leisure travelers, offering easy access to downtown offices, shopping, and entertainment. With 249 guestrooms, the hotel will feature 62 Swissôtel Living apartments for guests who wish to settle in and extend their stay in Shanghai.  The hotel is set to open in mid 2026.

The arrival of the hotel at the intersection of Hongxu Road and Wuzhong Road, near the Caohejing Economic and Technological Development Zone and Shanghai Xinzhuang Industrial Park, will support the revitalization efforts of the Shanghai Hongqiao Gubei Business Development area. Not only will the global reputation of Swissôtel draw visitors and boost tourism, but the brand’s commitment to sustainability, vitality, and purposeful living aligns with the community values of Gubei.

The world-renowned brand is a leader in the premium hospitality segment, welcoming guests to its urban retreats in culturally rich destinations. The hotel will feature the brand’s signature comforts and integrated well-being experiences. The hotel’s 249 guestrooms and suites will be expertly crafted with a generous use of natural materials, including 62 Swissôtel Living apartments designed and serviced for longer staying guests. These apartments will feature separate kitchens, private living and dining areas, with comfortable bedrooms, providing stylish and contemporary spaces to work, rest and play, while residing in the heart of Shanghai.

The new hotel will also feature an expansive, pillarless ballroom, an executive lounge, and flexible meeting and event spaces that will be ideal for business gatherings and family celebrations. The hotel’s restaurant, bar, and fitness facilities will deliver its signature brand perks, such as Vitality breakfasts and Pürovel amenities, for modern, mindful, and sustainable guest experiences.

Across Greater China, the brand is experiencing impressive momentum. The signing of the Shanghai hotel follows the recent opening of Swissôtel Sanya Yalong Bay on the tropical coast of Hainan Island. The brand’s current portfolio in Greater China includes eight operating hotels, with locations in Shanghai Jing’An, Beijing, Foshan, Changbaishan, Xi’an, Sanya, Hefei and Shenyang. Nine destinations are currently in development, including Shanghai, Chengdu, Changsha, Xi’an, Suzhou, Guangzhou, and Jinan, to name a few.
