Digital travel platform Agoda says major music events are becoming an increasingly important reason for Malaysians to travel. Instead of focusing only on the concert itself, many fans are now planning where to stay, what to do and how to turn the event into a longer getaway.

According to Agoda, accommodation searches by Malaysian travellers increased significantly across four Asian cities hosting the upcoming BTS Arirang Tour, compared with the same periods in 2025.

Kuala Lumpur recorded the biggest increase at around 14 times higher than last year. Meanwhile, Singapore and Jakarta each saw searches rise by around seven times, while Bangkok experienced almost a fourfold increase.

The findings suggest that major concerts are becoming powerful travel drivers. Whether it is a Kuala Lumpur staycation, a weekend in Singapore or a longer escape to Jakarta or Bangkok, more Malaysians are planning trips around the music.

Concerts Are Inspiring More Than One-Night Trips

Major concerts are no longer just events on the calendar. Instead, they are becoming the starting point for staycations, regional city breaks and longer year-end holidays.

Today’s concert trips often extend beyond the venue. After securing tickets, travellers quickly begin planning accommodation, flights, restaurants and sightseeing with friends and family.

As a result, Agoda encourages travellers to search for accommodation early. Booking in advance provides more opportunities to compare locations, room types, prices and flexible booking options before demand increases.

Kuala Lumpur Leads the Search Surge

Among the four concert destinations, Kuala Lumpur recorded the strongest growth in accommodation searches from Malaysian travellers, rising by around 14 times compared with the same period in 2025.

The increase suggests that even concerts close to home are encouraging travellers to book overnight stays. Many are choosing to avoid post-concert traffic, enjoy the city’s nightlife and turn a single evening into a short urban escape.

Singapore also experienced strong growth, with accommodation searches increasing by around seven times year-on-year.

For many Malaysians, the city remains an attractive destination for a quick concert getaway. Its proximity allows travellers to enjoy the performance while also fitting in shopping, dining and sightseeing before returning home.

Jakarta and Bangkok Offer Extended City Breaks

Jakarta and Bangkok also recorded healthy increases in accommodation searches. Jakarta matched Singapore with around seven times more searches, while Bangkok saw nearly four times the search volume compared with last year.

These destinations appeal to travellers looking for more than a concert. Visitors can easily combine the event with food experiences, shopping, cultural attractions, nightlife and additional sightseeing.

Agoda Shares Tips for Planning a Concert Getaway

Agoda recommends building an itinerary around more than just the concert itself. Adding an extra night or exploring the destination can turn a simple event into a memorable holiday.

Compare Before Demand Increases

When major concerts drive travel demand, searching early gives travellers more accommodation choices before availability becomes limited.

Look Beyond the Venue

Hotels close to the concert venue may be convenient. However, nearby neighbourhoods often provide better value, more dining options and a richer local experience.

Use Flexible Booking Filters

Travellers coordinating flights, concert tickets and group travel should consider filters such as free cancellation, pay-at-property, breakfast included and guest ratings to find accommodation that best suits their plans.

Turn One Night Into a Holiday

A concert can become the centrepiece of a Kuala Lumpur staycation, a Singapore shopping trip, a Jakarta city escape or a Bangkok food adventure. Agoda allows travellers to compare accommodation, flights and activities in one place, making it easier to plan a complete getaway.

Fabian Teja, Country Director, Malaysia and Brunei at Agoda, said:

“What stands out from the data is how entertainment is becoming a travel trigger. For many Malaysians, the concert ticket appears to be the starting point for a bigger decision about where to stay, who to travel with and how much of the city to experience. That creates a different kind of trip, one where accommodation, flights and activities are planned around a shared moment. Whether travellers are planning a KL staycation, a Singapore city break or a regional escape to Jakarta or Bangkok, Agoda helps them compare options in one place, find great value and turn one big night out into a fuller getaway.”
