Once implemented across Dubai’s hotels and holiday homes, the system will allow guests to complete check-in formalities remotely before arrival, significantly reducing or eliminating in-person procedures at reception desks.

Developed by DET, ready for immediate integration
The biometric and digital check-in capability has been developed by the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) and is available through several independent technology providers.
Hotels and holiday homes across the city can now integrate the system into their existing apps or web platforms, enabling a smoother and faster arrival experience for guests without major changes to current infrastructure.
DET said the rollout highlights Dubai’s continued investment in advanced digital solutions to enhance both guest satisfaction and operational efficiency across the tourism ecosystem.
How the one-time contactless check-in works
The new system allows guests to complete all required check-in steps in advance using their mobile phones.

He noted that guided by the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the city continues to prioritise smart, secure, and seamless urban experiences.
The contactless check-in system, he said, enhances the visitor journey while positioning Dubai strategically for sustained tourism growth, in line with the goals of the D33 agenda.

His Excellency Helal Saeed Almarri, Director General of DET, described the initiative as a pivotal moment for Dubai’s hospitality sector.
