Emirates Airbus A350 Premium Economy seat with electric full-height privacy screen
Emirates introduces a new electrically powered Premium Economy seat with a full-height privacy screen on its Airbus A350 aircraft

Emirates has introduced a new Premium Economy seat (wach video) with an electrically powered, full-height privacy screen between each seat. The seat will debut on newly delivered Airbus A350 aircraft.

According to Emirates, it is the first Premium Economy seat to use a fully electric privacy divider that extends to the full height of the seat. The design gives passengers control over the level of privacy around their seat.

The new seat is installed in the A350 Premium Economy cabin, which has a 2-3-2 configuration and 28 seats. Emirates Premium Economy seats are 20 inches wide, with seat pitch of up to 39 inches on the A350.

The seats also recline into a cradle position without intruding into the row behind, allowing passengers to sleep or relax without reducing the space available to the passenger behind.

Adjustable privacy at the touch of a button

Passengers can raise or lower the privacy divider using the seat controls and lock it in their preferred position.

The new seat is also Emirates’ first fully electrically powered Premium Economy seat. An integrated Passenger Control Unit allows passengers to adjust their seating position, with dedicated settings including lounge mode and meal mode.

The privacy screen can be used while relaxing, dining or working.

U-Dream headrest and additional leg support

The new seat also introduces Emirates’ U-Dream headrest by Safran Seats.

The leather headrest has adjustable wings that can be positioned in multiple ways to provide support for the head and neck. A manually deployable leather footrest provides additional support and is designed to help reduce leg fatigue.

Wireless charging and USB-C at every seat

Wireless charging is being introduced to Emirates Premium Economy for the first time.

Passengers with compatible devices can charge them wirelessly throughout the flight. Each seat also has USB-C charging.

In addition, the tray table includes an integrated phone holder. This allows passengers to position a smartphone as a second screen while dining or using other content.

4K entertainment and additional aircraft cameras

Passengers can access Emirates’ ice inflight entertainment system through a 13.3-inch 4K HDR touchscreen.

The system features high-definition picture quality and touchscreen navigation. On newly delivered Airbus A350 aircraft, passengers will also have access to additional exterior camera views.

Alongside the existing forward and downward cameras, the aircraft will offer left and right exterior perspectives.

Premium Economy dining and wine selection

The new seat forms part of Emirates’ existing Premium Economy service, which includes regionally inspired menus prepared by Emirates chefs.

Meals are served on Royal Doulton fine china with linen napkins and stainless-steel Robert Welch cutlery. The beverage selection includes Chandon Vintage Brut 2021, which Emirates says is available exclusively to its Premium Economy customers worldwide.

The airline is also adding further wines to the cabin’s selection.

From September, passengers on select routes may be served Chablis Premier Cru Jean-Marc Brocard 2024 or La Parde de Haut-Bailly 2014. In October, Wiston Estate Brut NV will become Emirates’ first English sparkling wine and will be served exclusively in Premium Economy on UK routes.

Emirates said it has invested more than US$1 billion in its wine portfolio since 2006.

Amenity kits and Aveda skincare

On long-haul flights, Premium Economy passengers receive reusable amenity kits created in partnership with United for Wildlife.

The collectible bags use bio-based materials, including cactus leather alternatives, and feature endangered wildlife from four natural habitats.

For the first time in Emirates Premium Economy, the kits also include plant-based skincare products from Aveda.

Other items include socks, eyeshades, earplugs and a dental kit. Sustainable materials are used throughout the collection.

Emirates continues Premium Economy rollout

Emirates launched Premium Economy in 2022 and has continued expanding the cabin across its fleet. The product is now available across all markets currently served by Airbus A350 aircraft.

The airline has positioned Premium Economy as a cabin influenced by its Business Class offering, combining wider seating, additional legroom, dining and inflight entertainment.

The cabin has received several industry awards. These include ‘Best Premium Economy Class’ at the Business Traveller Middle East Awards in 2024 and 2025. Emirates was also named ‘Airline with the Best Premium Economy Class’ at the 2025 ULTRAs Awards.

The new electrically powered seat and full-height privacy screen are the latest additions to Emirates’ Premium Economy product as the airline continues its investment in cabin design, connectivity and inflight entertainment.
