Minor Hotels has appointed Erik Billgren as General Manager of Anantara Koh Yao Yai Resort & Villas, reinforcing the group’s leadership team at one of its flagship luxury resorts in southern Thailand. The appointment brings more than two decades of hospitality experience across Asia to the award-winning beachfront property, which is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World.

Located on the largely untouched island of Koh Yao Yai, the luxury resort has become one of Thailand’s most sought-after island escapes, known for its spacious suites, private villas and authentic local experiences.

A graduate of Australia’s Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School, Billgren has built his hospitality career throughout Asia, developing expertise across hotel operations, food and beverage, sales, investment and hospitality consultancy.

His broad industry background provides a well-rounded leadership style that combines operational excellence with commercial strategy and collaborative management.

Billgren joined Minor Hotels in 2021 as General Manager of Anantara Mui Ne Resort in Vietnam before taking leadership positions at Anantara Quy Nhon Villas in Vietnam and Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle Resort in Sri Lanka. Each property is recognised for its luxury beachfront setting and premium guest experience.

At Anantara Koh Yao Yai Resort & Villas, Billgren will focus on further enhancing guest experiences while showcasing the island’s natural beauty, local culture and authentic community connections.

His priorities include strengthening the resort’s luxury positioning through exceptional service standards, sustainable operations and immersive island experiences that distinguish Koh Yao Yai from Thailand’s more developed destinations.
