IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG) has opened its 200th Hotel Indigo property worldwide, doubling the brand’s global footprint since 2019.

Hotel Indigo had 100 open hotels in 2019. Today, the brand operates 200 properties across more than 30 countries, with a further 134 hotels in its development pipeline.

The expansion has taken Hotel Indigo into urban, cultural and resort destinations. The growth also reflects continued demand from guests and hotel owners, according to IHG.

Hotel Indigo’s Local Focus

Hotel Indigo launched in 2004 and has built its brand concept around neighbourhood-focused design and experiences.

Each property draws on the culture, character and history of its location. This approach is reflected in areas including hotel design, dining and local storytelling.

IHG describes Hotel Indigo as “The World’s Neighbourhood Hotel.” The brand’s properties are designed to reflect their surroundings rather than follow a single standardised design.

Vicki Poulos, Vice President, Luxury & Lifestyle brands at IHG Hotels & Resorts, said: “Reaching 200 open hotels is a significant moment for Hotel Indigo and a testament to the strength of the brand. As The World’s Neighbourhood Hotel, it celebrates how guests can discover, or rediscover, some of the most inspiring and culturally rich neighbourhoods in and outside of our hotels across the world. From the very beginning, Hotel Indigo has been about celebrating the individuality of places, of people and of stories – and for our guests, it isn’t just a place to stay; it’s a reason to travel, a destination all on its own.”
