Howard Johnson by Wyndham Riyadh Al Nasiriyah hotel in Riyadh Saudi Arabia
Howard Johnson by Wyndham Riyadh Al Nasiriyah has opened in Riyadh following the renovation of the former Saudia Hotel

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has opened Howard Johnson by Wyndham Riyadh Al Nasiriyah, marking the brand’s debut in Riyadh. The newly renovated 99-room hotel is located in the Al Nasiriyah district of the Saudi capital.

The hotel is close to major government institutions, healthcare facilities and cultural landmarks. Nearby locations include King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre, the Saudi Central Bank and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Guests can also reach Al Murabba Palace and the King Abdulaziz Historical Centre. King Khalid International Airport is approximately 43 kilometres from the hotel.

Former Saudia Hotel converted into Howard Johnson property

The opening follows the transformation of a property that operated as the Saudia Hotel for more than four decades.

Completed in 2026, the conversion retains the property’s longstanding presence in Riyadh while adding renovated accommodation, refreshed public areas, contemporary meeting facilities, dining options and updated guest amenities under the Howard Johnson by Wyndham brand.

“Saudi Arabia’s transformation under Vision 2030 is creating significant momentum across the tourism and hospitality sector, with growing demand for quality accommodation that serve both domestic and international travellers. The opening of Howard Johnson by Wyndham Riyadh Al Nasiriyah reflects our commitment to working closely with owners to bring internationally recognised brands to the right markets and to unlock the potential of existing hospitality assets. As the first Howard Johnson by Wyndham in Riyadh, this opening is an important milestone for our portfolio, and we look forward to building on this momentum as we continue to grow across the Kingdom.”
— Mohamad Haj Hassan, Market Managing Director, MEA, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts

Meeting space, dining and leisure facilities

The hotel is designed for both business and leisure travellers. It offers 140 square metres of flexible meeting space across two ground-floor meeting rooms.

The rooms can be used for corporate meetings, training sessions, workshops and social gatherings.

Leisure facilities include an outdoor swimming pool and hot tub. The hotel also has a fully equipped fitness centre.

For dining, its all-day restaurant serves international cuisine.

The facilities are intended to serve travellers staying near Riyadh’s government, healthcare and cultural destinations. They also support business meetings and events.

“For more than four decades, this property has been part of Riyadh’s hospitality story, and seeing it enter its next chapter is particularly meaningful. The transformation has allowed us to retain that sense of heritage while introducing the contemporary facilities and service standards today’s guests expect. With our location close to the city’s key government, healthcare and cultural destinations, we look forward to welcoming guests and becoming part of Riyadh’s next chapter.”
— Amir Nasr, Cluster General Manager, Howard Johnson by Wyndham Riyadh Al Nasiriyah
