Tokyo’s first Caption by Hyatt reimagines hospitality with community spirit, creative design, and sustainability at its core

Hyatt Hotels Corporation (NYSE: H) announces the opening of Caption by Hyatt Kabutocho Tokyo, marking the brand’s dynamic debut in Japan’s capital. Situated in Nihonbashi Kabutocho, Tokyo’s historic financial district now reborn as a creative hub, the 195-room lifestyle hotel connects guests to the city’s energy—just steps from Kayabacho and Nihonbashi stations and minutes from Tokyo Station, Ginza, and Marunouchi.

Anchored by Talk Shop, the brand’s signature social space, the hotel is designed as a neighborhood living room where guests and locals can meet, eat, and make meaningful connections throughout the day.

“We’re proud to introduce the Caption by Hyatt experience to Tokyo,” said Masa Yamada, General Manager. “Kabutocho is where old traditions meet new creativity. Our goal is to spark connection—between people, ideas, and the neighborhood itself—through authentic design and a welcoming social spirit.”

Where Modern Design Meets Local Character

Created by Mitchell & Eades (M&E), Caption by Hyatt Kabutocho Tokyo celebrates the intersection of craft, culture, and contemporary living. Guestrooms—ranging from 236 to 581 square feet (22–54 sqm)—draw inspiration from Kabutocho’s evolution, expressed through four design themes: Bridge, Community, Old & New, and Future.

The interiors blend tactile Japanese craftsmanship with expressive modern touches, referencing the nearby Tokyo Stock Exchange and the area’s trading heritage. Guests enjoy Apotheke bath amenities, self-service check-in, complimentary Wi-Fi, TV streaming, and a fitness center, while suites feature in-room washer/dryers for extended stays.

Talk Shop: Tokyo’s New Social Hub

Talk Shop brings together locals and travelers in an all-day venue that transitions with the rhythm of the city—from morning coffee to evening cocktails. Its “Burgers & Greens” concept features signature craft burgers, fresh salads, and drinks from SR Coffee Roaster and Heiwa Shuzo. A 24/7 Market offers grab-and-go bites and curated goods from Nihonbashi heritage brands, while community events—like chiyogami workshops and Jazz Nights—turn the space into a true cultural stage.

Sustainability in Every Detail

The property is Tokyo’s first hotel to achieve the DBJ Green Building Plan Certification, awarded for outstanding sustainability and social contribution. Built with a hybrid timber-and-steel structure, the hotel showcases forward-thinking urban design while reducing its carbon footprint. Additional eco-measures include refillable water stations and paper-based amenities to cut single-use plastics.

Grand Opening Celebration

To mark its debut, guests booking direct by January 30, 2026, for stays through January 31, 2026, will enjoy:

  • A Welcome Drink featuring doburoku, a traditional unfiltered sake from Heiwa Shuzo (non-alcoholic option available)
