IHG Hotels & Resorts today becomes the first hotel company to launch its own LINE MINI App in Thailand and Taiwan, marking the latest step in the group’s broader digital strategy to meet guests on the platforms they already use every day.
Following the app’s launch in Japan last year, where it has attracted more than four million followers, the IHG LINE MINI App now brings IHG’s portfolio of more than 7,000 hotels, IHG One Rewards membership and exclusive offers directly into LINE, one of Asia’s most widely used communication platforms.
Through the app, travellers can search, discover and book IHG hotels around the world without leaving the LINE ecosystem.
They can also join IHG One Rewards for free and sign in with a single click using their existing LINE credentials. Members can then check their status, track points, redeem rewards and access member benefits, including dining privileges in Thailand.
IHG Expands Its Digital Strategy Across Asia
Dean Jones, Vice President Commercial, East Asia & Pacific, IHG Hotels & Resorts, said the launch reflects the company’s focus on meeting guests where they already spend their time.
“IHG has always championed a culture of firsts, and our digital acceleration is no exception. Becoming the first hotel company to launch a LINE MINI App in the Thailand and Taiwan markets reflects our commitment to meeting guests where they already spend their time and making it easier to discover, book and experience our brands.”
He added that platforms such as LINE are deeply embedded in everyday life across Asia, giving IHG an opportunity to shape the future of travel through channels that guests already know and trust.
Rita Jiang, Chief Commercial & Marketing Officer, Greater China, IHG Hotels & Resorts, said the launch will help deliver a more mobile-first and frictionless experience for travellers in Thailand and Taiwan.
“Our guests in the Thailand and Taiwan markets are deeply embedded in the LINE ecosystem, with the platform playing an integral role in their daily digital lives.”
According to IHG, LINE has 195 million monthly active users, including 56 million users in Thailand and 22 million in Taiwan. Its penetration in Taiwan is equivalent to approximately 94% of the market’s population, highlighting the platform’s importance to the region’s digital ecosystem.
Exclusive Launch Campaigns and Member Rewards
To celebrate the launch of the IHG LINE MINI App, IHG One Rewards is rolling out a series of initiatives throughout August.
Beyond hotel discovery, booking and points management, users can participate in gamified experiences, earn LINE Points through selected promotions and access exclusive member-only activities.
Thai users will also be able to collect a series of limited-edition, travel-inspired LINE stickers created by popular illustrator duo Sundae Kids, known for its wholesome comics depicting everyday moments.
The launch forms part of IHG’s continued investment in digital experiences designed to make travel planning more intuitive, personalised and connected.
Alongside the LINE MINI App, IHG is also investing in AI-powered conversational search and other digital channels across the guest journey. Together, these initiatives are designed to create simpler ways for travellers to discover, book and experience IHG’s growing portfolio of more than 7,000 hotels worldwide.
