Interview with Khun Jittima, Director of Wellness at Sindhorn Wellness by Resense, Sindhorn Kempinski Hotel Bangkok

1. Could you tell us about your role as Director of Wellness at Sindhorn Wellness by Resense, Sindhorn Kempinski Hotel Bangkok?

My role goes beyond managing a luxury wellness facility.
I am responsible for creating an integrated wellness ecosystem that combines spa, fitness, recovery, and personalised wellness experiences. My focus is to ensure that every guest leaves feeling healthier, happier, and inspired to continue their wellness journey long after they return home.

2. Tell us about your professional journey. What first inspired you to pursue a career in wellness?

My career has taken me across some of the world’s leading luxury hospitality brands in Thailand and the Middle East. Throughout this journey, I realised that true luxury is not simply about beautiful facilities—it is about making people feel genuinely better. That belief ultimately led me to specialise in wellness hospitality.

3. Was there a defining moment that shaped your philosophy on health and wellbeing?

The defining moment was understanding that wellness is preventative rather than reactive. Instead of waiting until people become ill, we have the opportunity to help them build healthier lifestyles every day.

4. What does “wellness” mean to you personally?

Wellness is balance. It is the harmony between physical health, mental wellbeing, emotional resilience, and meaningful human connection. It is not perfection—it is consistency.

5. How has your definition of wellness changed throughout your career?

Earlier in my career, wellness was mostly about treatments and fitness. Today, I see wellness as the creation of sustainable habits that improve every aspect of life.

6. What makes Sindhorn Wellness by Resense unique among luxury wellness destinations?

We combine evidence-based wellness, luxury hospitality, and personalised care under one roof. Every programme is tailored to the individual rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach.

7. Why do you think Bangkok is becoming an increasingly popular wellness destination?

Bangkok offers world-class healthcare, renowned hospitality, authentic Thai healing traditions, and excellent value. International travellers increasingly recognise Thailand as a destination where medical expertise and wellness experiences naturally complement each other.

8. How do Thailand’s healing traditions influence your wellness programmes?

Thai hospitality and traditional healing are built around compassion, mindfulness, and personalised care. We incorporate these values into every guest experience while combining them with modern wellness science.

9. Today’s luxury travellers seek meaningful experiences. How has this changed the way you approach wellness hospitality?

Guests no longer want indulgence alone; they want purpose. They want experiences that help them sleep better, manage stress, recover faster, and live healthier lives.

10. How has the concept of luxury wellness evolved over the past decade?

Today’s luxury travellers are seeking transformation, not just relaxation. We focus on creating personalised wellness journeys that address each guest’s unique goals, helping them achieve lasting physical and mental wellbeing beyond their stay.

11. What are guests looking for most when they visit a wellness destination today?

Guests today are looking for personalised experiences that fit their individual lifestyle and health goals. Some want stress relief, while others focus on longevity, better sleep, fitness performance, or post-exercise recovery.

Recovery has also become a major part of the wellness conversation. As more people embrace active lifestyles, strength training, and endurance-based fitness, they understand that recovery is just as important as exercise itself. At Sindhorn Wellness, we support this through our hydrotherapy facilities, thermal experiences, flotation therapy, Ballancer® lymphatic compression therapy, and personalised recovery treatments, allowing guests to recover more effectively while enhancing both performance and overall wellbeing.

12. Have guest expectations changed since the pandemic? If so, how?

Absolutely. Guests have become much more proactive about their health. They expect personalised, science-backed wellness programmes that support both physical and mental wellbeing rather than simply offering relaxation.

We are also seeing increasing demand for integrated wellness experiences where fitness, recovery, nutrition, and mindfulness work together. Rather than simply booking a massage, guests appreciate having access to facilities such as hydrotherapy, thermal experiences, flotation therapy, and recovery treatments that complement their active lifestyle and support long-term wellbeing.

13. What wellness trends do you believe are here to stay, and which do you think are just passing fads?

Longevity, sleep optimisation, recovery, and personalised wellness are long-term trends because they are supported by science and real health outcomes. Quick-fix solutions and social media wellness fads will continue to come and go.

14. How do you balance traditional healing practices with modern wellness science?

We believe the best wellness comes from balancing traditional healing with modern science, creating personalised experiences that are both meaningful and effective.

15. Mental wellbeing has become increasingly important. How do you incorporate it into your programmes?

Mental wellbeing is integrated throughout our wellness journeys through mindfulness, movement, recovery therapies, and calming environments that help reduce stress and restore emotional balance.

16. Sleep wellness is gaining global attention. Why is quality sleep so essential to overall health?

Quality sleep is the foundation of good health. It supports recovery, strengthens the immune system, improves mental clarity, and enhances overall physical and emotional performance.

17. How do you personalise wellness journeys for guests with different lifestyles and goals?

We begin by understanding each guest’s lifestyle, health goals, and personal challenges before designing a wellness programme tailored to their individual needs.

18. What advice would you give someone visiting a luxury wellness centre for the very first time?

Come with an open mind and listen to your body. Focus on how you feel rather than trying to experience everything in one visit.

19. If a guest only had one day at your wellness centre, what experience would you recommend?

I would recommend starting with a wellness consultation, followed by our Thermal Journey, a signature treatment, and finishing with a nutritious meal and time to relax and recharge.

20. How do fitness, nutrition, recovery, and mindfulness come together to create a holistic wellness journey?

Fitness builds strength, nutrition fuels the body, recovery restores performance, and mindfulness creates mental balance. Together, they support sustainable, long-term wellbeing.

21. How does sustainability influence your wellness philosophy and operations?

We believe wellness should benefit both people and the planet. We embrace responsible practices, reduce waste, and make thoughtful choices that support long-term environmental sustainability.

22. What is the biggest misconception people have about luxury wellness?

Many people think luxury wellness is simply about pampering. In reality, it is about investing in long-term health through personalised and meaningful experiences.

23. What are the biggest challenges in operating a world-class wellness facility?

The biggest challenge is maintaining consistently high service standards while continuing to innovate and personalise every guest experience.

24. How do you ensure consistency and excellence across therapists, trainers, and wellness practitioners?

We achieve this through continuous training, clear quality standards, regular coaching, and a shared commitment to delivering exceptional guest care.

25. What qualities do you look for when recruiting wellness professionals?

Technical skills are essential, but I value empathy, professionalism, passion, and a genuine desire to improve people’s wellbeing even more.

26. How would your team describe your leadership style?

I believe my team would describe me as supportive, collaborative, and committed to helping people grow both personally and professionally.

27. How do you inspire your team to deliver exceptional guest experiences every day?

I remind them that every interaction has the opportunity to positively impact someone’s wellbeing, and that small details often create the most memorable experiences.

28. How do you encourage your team to keep learning?

We invest in ongoing training, invite international wellness practitioners to share their expertise, and encourage continuous professional development across the team.

29. How is technology changing the wellness industry?

Technology enables us to better understand our guests, track progress, and deliver more personalised, measurable, and effective wellness experiences.

30. Do you see AI and wearable technology playing a larger role in personalised wellness?

Absolutely. AI and wearable technology will enable even greater personalisation through health insights and data, while the human connection will always remain at the heart of wellness.

31. What will define the next generation of luxury wellness experiences?

The future of luxury wellness will be defined by personalisation, longevity, preventative healthcare, advanced recovery, and the intelligent use of technology.

32. What has been your proudest achievement of your career so far?

One of my proudest achievements has been creating wellness communities where guests return not only feeling relaxed, but healthier, happier, and inspired to continue their wellness journey.

33. Outside of work, how do you personally maintain your own wellbeing?

I prioritise regular movement, quality sleep, spending time with my family, and making space to recharge both physically and mentally.

34. If you could change one thing about the way people think about wellness, what would it be?

I would like people to see wellness not as a luxury, but as a daily investment in their long-term health and quality of life.

35. Finally, what legacy would you like to leave in the wellness industry?

I hope to inspire more people to see wellness as a lifelong journey and help make it more accessible, meaningful, and sustainable for future generations.
