Historic Art Nouveau courthouse reimagined Mandarin Oriental, Vienna as a new hub of culture, cuisine, and contemporary luxury
Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group will open its first hotel in Austria on 20 October 2025, introducing Mandarin Oriental, Vienna to the heart of the city’s prestigious First District. Set within a meticulously restored Art Nouveau courthouse on peaceful Riemergasse, the new property celebrates Vienna’s cultural legacy while offering the brand’s signature blend of understated luxury, modern sophistication, and legendary service.
A historic setting redefined
Designed in 1908 by Alfred Keller, the heritage-listed building has been transformed into a 138-key hotel comprising 86 rooms and 52 suites, including three Mandarin Signature Suites and the palatial Royal Suite. Original Art Nouveau features have been paired with contemporary design, creating a refined yet relaxed atmosphere that honours the past while embracing the present.
A destination for culture and community
General Manager Mario Habicher describes the hotel as both a sanctuary for global travellers and a gathering place for locals. Seven multifunctional boardrooms and a 140-sqm ballroom offer a stage for events of every scale, while the interiors reflect Vienna’s enduring elegance.
Dining with flair and flavour
Under the helm of Executive Chef Thomas Seifried, Mandarin Oriental, Vienna introduces four distinct culinary experiences:
- Le Sept, the fine-dining flagship, celebrating seafood with French precision and Asian accents.
- Atelier 7 – Brasserie, an all-day dining spot blending Art Nouveau charm with international comfort food and Austrian–Asian influences.
- Atelier 7 – The Café, a contemporary nod to Viennese coffeehouse tradition.
- Atelier 7 – Izakaya and Bar, where Japanese-inspired cocktails and convivial energy take centre stage.
“Vienna is ready for a new culinary chapter that surprises, inspires, and delights,” notes Chef Seifried.
Wellness with a Viennese touch
The Spa at Mandarin Oriental offers holistic treatments that combine Group signature therapies with local wellness traditions. Guests can also enjoy seven treatment rooms, a couple’s suite, a spacious indoor pool, a fitness centre, and a VIP wellness area.
