Mandarin Oriental brings its legendary hospitality and design flair to South Korea’s capital
Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group is marking a milestone moment with its entry into South Korea, announcing the development of Mandarin Oriental, Seoul, a boutique-style luxury hotel set to open in 2030. The move underscores the Group’s thoughtful growth strategy and extends its presence across Asia into one of the region’s most dynamic cultural and economic hubs.
Located in Seoul’s Central Business District, north of the Han River, the 128-room hotel will balance exclusivity and intimacy, echoing the atmosphere of a curated private club. Celebrated designer André Fu has been tapped to craft the interiors, weaving understated elegance with details that reflect the spirit of the destination.
Epicurean experiences will define the property: a destination restaurant on the 21st floor will showcase panoramic views of the city, while the 20th floor will house two distinct dining concepts—elevated international cuisine inspired by SOMM at Mandarin Oriental, The Landmark Hong Kong, alongside a refined Chinese restaurant. Guests can also indulge at a high-end Korean Chef’s Counter, a theatrical dining journey celebrating contemporary Korean gastronomy. At street level, a bar, lounge and The Mandarin Cake Shop will offer lively meeting points for both travelers and locals.
Beyond dining, the hotel will cater to business and social gatherings with a grand ballroom, versatile meeting rooms and a private outdoor terrace.
Anchoring the experience, The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Seoul will span four floors and embrace themes of Traditional Healing, Future Bathing, K Beauty, Mind Reset and Body Performance. With a 25-metre swimming pool, state-of-the-art fitness centre, golf academy, multiball court, games room and kids’ club, the spa and wellness facilities promise to set a new benchmark for holistic luxury in the market.
“Seoul is a dynamic cultural and economic hub and we are proud to be announcing our entry into this important market,” said Laurent Kleitman, Group Chief Executive of Mandarin Oriental. “Mandarin Oriental, Seoul will reflect our commitment to thoughtful growth, offering an experience that captures the essence of the destination while delivering the legendary service and design our guests expect.”
The project is being developed in partnership with Hanwha Group, as part of the wider redevelopment of Seoul Station into a thriving hub for business and leisure.
