Marriott International Reshapes Global Leadership to Accelerate Growth Across the Americas and EMEA
Satya Anand, Neal Jones, and Fede Greppi

Marriott International has announced a major leadership transition and regional realignment, marking the retirement of two long-serving executives and the appointment of three senior leaders to oversee its next phase of global expansion at a time of sustained portfolio growth and strategic complexity across key markets.

Marriott International (Nasdaq: MAR) confirmed a series of senior leadership changes designed to strengthen regional alignment and execution as the company continues to scale across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and the Caribbean and Latin America.

The changes, effective 28 March 2026, include the retirement of Liam Brown, Group President, U.S. & Canada, and Brian King, President, Enterprise Transformation & Caribbean and Latin America (CALA). Both executives will retire at the end of June 2026 after decades with the company and will remain in advisory roles during the transition.

To succeed them, Marriott has elevated three experienced leaders from within its ranks, consolidating regional oversight and reinforcing its long-term growth strategy.

Leadership Changes at a Glance

  • Satya Anand appointed Group President, U.S., Canada and CALA
  • Neal Jones named President, Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA)
  • Federico “Fede” Greppi promoted to President, CALA

All three will report into Anthony Capuano, President and Chief Executive Officer, Marriott International. Jones and Anand will serve on the company’s executive leadership team.

Why It Matters

Marriott’s leadership reshuffle signals a deliberate move toward greater regional integration, faster decision-making, and tighter alignment between mature and high-growth markets.

Key implications include:

  • Hemispheric alignment: Uniting the U.S., Canada, and CALA under one leader creates stronger coordination across the Americas, particularly as brand expansion and owner relationships increasingly span borders.
  • Continuity over disruption: All appointments are internal, reinforcing Marriott’s bench strength while maintaining institutional knowledge.
  • Growth execution focus: The timing coincides with record pipelines, expansion in midscale and all-inclusive segments, and continued demand recovery in global travel.

For owners, partners, and investors, the changes underline Marriott’s intent to scale efficiently while preserving operational discipline.

Honouring Two Long-Serving Leaders

Liam Brown: Architect of Scaled Growth

Liam Brown’s nearly 40-year career with Marriott began in 1989 as a General Manager at Courtyard by Marriott in Syracuse, New York. Over the decades, he became a key architect of Marriott’s modern growth engine.

His tenure was marked by:

  • Expansion of franchising and select-service brands
  • Strengthening brand management across regions
  • Portfolio growth in both EMEA and North America
  • Operational resilience through periods of industry disruption

Brown is widely credited with building enduring relationships with owners and franchisees, a defining feature of Marriott’s expansion model.

Brian King: Driving Transformation in CALA

Brian King spent more than 30 years with Marriott and played a central role in reshaping the company’s presence in the Caribbean and Latin America.

Highlights of his impact include:

  • Expanding Marriott’s CALA footprint to 37 countries and territories
  • Leading the acquisition of City Express, enabling entry into the affordable midscale segment
  • Accelerating growth in the all-inclusive and lifestyle categories
  • Delivering record regional performance while managing enterprise-wide transformation initiatives

His leadership materially strengthened Marriott’s competitive position in emerging and growth markets.

Satya Anand Takes on Expanded Americas Role

A 37-year Marriott veteran, Satya Anand will assume the newly expanded role of Group President, U.S., Canada and CALA, unifying Marriott’s leadership across the Americas.

Since becoming President of EMEA in 2020, Anand has:

  • Grown the region to 1,300+ properties
  • Advanced digital transformation and sustainability initiatives
  • Delivered record development pipelines
  • Strengthened owner and franchisee engagement

Anand’s background spans operations, finance, and design, including senior leadership roles across Europe and global luxury operations. He will relocate to the United States and be based at Marriott’s global headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland.

Neal Jones to Lead EMEA’s Next Phase

Neal Jones steps into the role of President, EMEA, overseeing nearly 80 countries and territories, more than 1,300 properties, and 30 brands.

Previously Chief Operating Officer for Europe and Africa and Global Leader for Design Hotels, Jones has:

  • Driven commercial performance across EMEA
  • Led the integration of Design Hotels into Marriott’s portfolio
  • Strengthened Marriott’s luxury and lifestyle positioning

Based in the United Kingdom, Jones brings deep market knowledge and a strong commercial lens to the role as EMEA continues to balance growth with brand differentiation.

Fede Greppi to Lead CALA Growth Strategy

Federico “Fede” Greppi will become President, CALA, continuing his progression after serving as Chief Operating Officer for the region.

A native of Argentina, Greppi has played a central role in:

  • Expanding CALA to 500+ properties
  • Strengthening franchise operations and owner relations
  • Translating global strategy into locally relevant execution

With an MBA from London Business School and experience across finance and operations, Greppi will remain based in South Florida, leading CALA through its next expansion cycle.

Looking Ahead

Anthony Capuano said the appointments position Marriott for “our next chapter of growth,” highlighting the balance of operational depth, financial discipline, innovation, and regional expertise across the new leadership structure.

The transitions take effect 28 March 2026, with Brown and King supporting handovers through June.
