Accor Debuts First Mercure in Abu Dhabi with Downtown Opening

How is Accor expanding its midscale footprint in the UAE with Mercure Hotel Abu Dhabi Downtown opening?

Accor has opened the Mercure Hotel Abu Dhabi Downtown, the first Mercure-branded property in the city and the fifth in the UAE. The launch expands the brand’s regional portfolio, which also includes four Mercure hotels and one Grand Mercure in Dubai, plus the Majlis Grand Mercure Abu Dhabi.

The new 156-key hotel offers rooms, suites, and one-bedroom apartments, complemented by a rooftop pool, spa with sauna, fitness centre, and three dining venues:

  • Mokaia (lobby café with coffee and pastries)
  • Livi (Mediterranean restaurant with open kitchen and private dining)
  • Le Cellier (18th-floor venue with city skyline views)

Design is inspired by Emirati culture, featuring desert tones, textured materials, and locally influenced artwork.

To mark the opening, members of Accor’s loyalty programme can enjoy 4x bonus points, discounts, room upgrades, and late check-out until 30 September 2025.

The opening follows Mercure’s recent growth in Saudi Arabia, with new properties in Khamis Mushait, Riyadh, and Makkah.

Market Context: Abu Dhabi’s hotel sector generated AED846 million in revenues in April 2025, up 38.6% month-on-month and 30.4% year-on-year. Several more openings, including Mondrian Abu Dhabi, are expected before year-end.
