Patina Tianjin has announced a creative partnership with multidisciplinary artist Oscar Wang ahead of the hotel’s opening in late 2026.
Located in the Italian Style Area, the new luxury hotel will collaborate with Wang to create an exclusive site-specific artwork inspired by its historic architecture and unique character.
The partnership will also introduce a signature collection of lifestyle merchandise, bringing together art, design and Tianjin’s cultural heritage.
A Creative Vision Inspired by East and West
Oscar Wang works at the intersection of traditional Eastern philosophy and contemporary design.
After training at Chelsea College of Arts, Wang developed a creative approach that blends Eastern and Western influences. His distinctive style has attracted collaborations with leading global brands, including Tiffany & Co., Fendi, Louis Vuitton and New Balance.
For Tiffany & Co., Wang created a piece celebrating the brand’s 180-year legacy through Chinese craftsmanship. Fendi also selected him as one of six designers worldwide to reimagine the iconic Peekaboo bag.
Through his work, Wang transforms cultural stories into contemporary expressions. His perspective offers a fresh way to explore Tianjin’s history, memories and identity.
A Family Connection Reimagined Through Art
Wang’s relationship with Tianjin is deeply personal.
Located beside Patina Tianjin’s Eastern Courtyard, the former Telephone Bureau No. 4 holds a special connection to his family history. His great grandfather, Zhang Ziqi, once worked in the building.
Generations later, Wang returns to the same area to create a new artistic chapter.
Through this partnership, he will explore the connection between memory, place and time. His artwork will bring together Tianjin’s past and present while reflecting Patina’s belief that culture continues to evolve through people and experiences.

A Heritage Luxury Hotel in Tianjin
Located in the vibrant Hebei District, Patina Tianjin covers 18,000 square metres across 17 heritage buildings dating back to 1902.
The hotel will feature 143 luxury guest rooms, each offering courtyard views through Italianate windows.
Beyond providing a gateway to Tianjin, Patina Tianjin aims to become a platform for the people, ideas and creative voices shaping the city.
Through long-term collaborations with cultural figures such as Oscar Wang, the hotel will celebrate the relationship between heritage, creativity and contemporary experiences.
