Effective 12 January 2026, Philippe Kronberg will lead one of London’s most iconic luxury hotels while also supporting operations at Mandarin Oriental Mayfair, Mandarin Oriental Paris, and two newly managed European landmarks: Mandarin Oriental Lutetia, Paris, and Mandarin Oriental Conservatorium, Amsterdam, which officially joins the brand on 14 January.

Philippe Kronberg joins Mandarin Oriental with more than 30 years of luxury hospitality experience, spanning hotel operations, finance and commercial strategy across multiple continents.
He arrives from Shangri-La Group, where he most recently served as Resort General Manager in Muscat, Oman, overseeing a large-scale beachfront destination comprising three hotels and more than 640 rooms. Prior to that, he was General Manager of Shangri-La Sydney, with broader oversight of the group’s Australasia portfolio.
His international leadership experience also includes General Manager roles in Turkey, China, Thailand and Australia, giving him deep operational insight across diverse cultural and market environments.

A global hospitality profile
A French and Australian national, Kronberg is fluent in English, French and German. He began his career at The Ritz London after graduating from Les Roches, one of the world’s leading hospitality schools, and later earned an Executive MBA from AGSM in Australia.
Beyond hospitality, he is a former paratrooper, holds a private pilot’s licence, and is actively involved in charitable fundraising.
