Poland is highlighting its credentials as one of Europe’s safest and most rewarding destinations for women travelling alone with the launch of its new Her Way. Poland. campaign. The initiative showcases the country’s strong safety record, rich cultural heritage, affordable travel and diverse city experiences as global interest in solo female travel continues to grow.
According to the campaign, Poland ranks 25th on the Global Peace Index, ahead of the UK, France and Spain. It also places among the safest European destinations for women travelling independently, while ranking in the lower-impact tier of the Global Terrorism Index 2026.
“Poland offers everything a solo female traveller is looking for: safety, culture, incredible food, stunning landscapes, and a warmth that surprises people when they discover it for the first time. It is one of the best places in Europe to travel as a woman, entirely on your own terms,” said Dorota Wojciechowska, Director of the Polish National Tourist Office.
Warsaw blends history with modern city life
Warsaw offers solo travellers a city where history and contemporary culture exist side by side. Rebuilt after the Second World War, its UNESCO-listed Old Town stands as one of Europe’s most significant post-war reconstruction achievements.
Beyond its historic centre, visitors will find independent cafés, riverside terraces and vibrant neighbourhoods that make exploring the city both comfortable and accessible.
Cultural highlights include the award-winning POLIN Museum, which chronicles 1,000 years of Jewish history through immersive exhibitions, the Neon Museum with its restored communist-era signs, and the revitalised Koneser Praga Centre, a former vodka distillery that has become a hub for dining, art and creative businesses.
Łódź showcases Poland’s creative transformation
Just 75 minutes from Warsaw by train, Łódź presents a different side of Poland. Once the country’s textile manufacturing powerhouse, the city has transformed many of its historic industrial buildings into galleries, boutique hotels, restaurants and creative spaces.
The Manufaktura complex has become one of Central Europe’s most successful urban regeneration projects, combining museums, entertainment venues and independent dining.
Meanwhile, colourful street art covers entire building façades throughout the city. Łódź is also home to Poland’s renowned National Film School, where Academy Award-winning director Roman Polanski studied. For evening entertainment, OFF Piotrkowska has emerged as one of the country’s most vibrant social districts, filled with independent restaurants, bars and local designers.
Olsztyn offers nature without sacrificing convenience
Travellers seeking outdoor experiences can head to Olsztyn, the gateway to the Warmia-Masuria lake district.
Surrounded by more than 2,000 lakes and ancient forests, the city combines a medieval Old Town with easy access to kayaking, cycling, hiking and lakeside beaches. Visitors can also explore the historic castle where astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus once lived and worked.
Unlike many of Europe’s better-known lake destinations, the region remains relatively uncrowded, offering a quieter alternative for nature lovers.
Affordable travel and regional cuisine
Poland’s evolving culinary scene combines traditional recipes with contemporary cooking. Travellers can enjoy handmade pierogi, Warsaw’s signature Wuzetka cake, freshwater fish from Warmia-Masuria’s lakes, wild mushrooms, local honey and regional dumplings prepared with seasonal ingredients.
At the same time, dining and transport costs remain considerably lower than in many Western European destinations, making Poland an attractive option for budget-conscious travellers.
Getting around is equally convenient. Modern intercity rail services connect major cities efficiently, while affordable public transport and widely available ride-hailing services make independent travel straightforward.
Her Way. Poland. campaign launches
The Her Way. Poland. campaign launches this month through the Polish National Tourist Office. It features destination guides, solo travel advice and first-hand experiences from three UK female travel creators exploring Warsaw, Łódź and Olsztyn throughout the summer.
The campaign arrives as solo travel continues to gain momentum globally. Searches for “solo travel” have increased significantly over the past decade, with female solo travel remaining one of the fastest-growing travel search categories. By combining safety, accessibility, culture and affordability, Poland hopes to inspire more women to discover the country on their own terms.
