Princess Cruises has set a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the Most Margaritas Sold in 8 Hours, with 3,410 24K Margaritas served aboard Regal Princess during a National Margarita Day celebration in Cozumel — reinforcing the cruise line’s fast-growing beverage partnership with Pantalones Organic Tequila.
Record-Breaking Margarita Sales at Sea
Princess Cruises marked National Margarita Day in record-setting style, selling 3,410 handcrafted 24K Margaritas aboard Regal Princess in just eight hours.
The milestone surpasses the previous record of 2,728 margaritas and officially earned the cruise line a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for Most Margaritas Sold in 8 Hours.
The achievement took place on February 17 while the 3,560-guest vessel was docked in Cozumel during a seven-day Western Caribbean sailing from Galveston.
Thomas Bradford, official adjudicator from Guinness World Records, confirmed the record onboard.
One Million 24K Margaritas Sold Fleetwide
The record-setting day coincided with another major benchmark:
- 1,038,197 24K Margaritas sold fleetwide
- Sales tracked from January 1, 2025 to January 7, 2026
- Made exclusively with Pantalones Organic Tequila
The 24K Margarita has become the fleet’s best-selling signature cocktail, underscoring the success of the cruise line’s October 2024 partnership launch with Pantalones.
The tequila brand was co-founded by Matthew McConaughey and Camila McConaughey, who sent a congratulatory message to guests and crew following the record announcement.
The 24K Margarita: A Signature Serve
The 24K Margarita is crafted with:
- Pantalones Organic Blanco Tequila
- Cointreau
- Grand Marnier
- Margarita mix
- Served over ice in a salted-rim glass
The cocktail has evolved into a defining onboard beverage experience and anchors a broader premium drinks strategy across the fleet.
Expanding Celebrity Beverage Partnerships
Pantalones Organic Tequila features within Princess Cruises’ Love Line Premium Liquors Collection, which includes celebrity-backed labels such as:
- Hampton Water Rosé by Jon Bon Jovi and Jesse Bongiovi
- Sláinte Irish Whiskey by Liev Schreiber
- Seven Daughters Moscato by Taraji P. Henson
- Archer Roose Wines by Elizabeth Banks
- Sparkling Rosé by Kylie Minogue (non-alcoholic*)
The milestone also follows the recent christening of Princess’ newest ship, Star Princess, where the McConaugheys served as godparents.
Why It Matters
The Guinness World Record adds measurable scale to Princess Cruises’ beverage strategy at a time when onboard ancillary revenue is under increased scrutiny across the cruise sector.
Key industry implications:
- Premium spirits partnerships are driving high-margin onboard revenue.
- Celebrity-backed brands are accelerating guest engagement.
- Signature cocktails are becoming brand-defining touchpoints.
- Experiential events (like National Margarita Day) boost per-guest spend.
For cruise operators, beverage programs are no longer secondary amenities — they are core commercial levers tied directly to guest satisfaction and onboard yield.
Princess Cruises’ ability to surpass one million sales within a year signals strong product-market alignment and successful cross-fleet implementation.
