Raffles Bali Launches “Wings of the Wild” Guided Nature Experience for Resident Guests
Raffles Bali, deep in the heart of nature.

Raffles Bali has introduced Wings of the Wild, a new guided nature walk designed exclusively for resident guests, spotlighting the resort’s rich biodiversity across its 23-hectare estate. The experience offers close-up encounters with native birdlife and butterflies— including a Near Threatened species—while reinforcing the luxury resort’s ongoing commitment to conservation, culture and place-based experiences.

A New Nature-Led Experience Within the Resort

Luxury hospitality and environmental stewardship converge at Raffles Bali with the launch of Wings of the Wild, a guided nature experience that invites guests to explore the island’s biodiversity without leaving the resort grounds.

Set across verdant hillsides, coastal edges and flourishing gardens, the programme reflects a broader shift in luxury travel: experiences that are immersive, educational and rooted in local ecosystems. Rather than staged encounters, Wings of the Wild centres on observing wildlife in its natural rhythm, shaped by time of day, habitat and seasonal change.

Designed for resident guests, the experience underscores Raffles Bali’s commitment to preserving nature while offering thoughtful, low-impact ways to engage with it.

A Living Landscape Across 23 Hectares

Spanning 23 hectares, the Raffles Bali estate functions as a mosaic of interconnected habitats. Fruiting tree canopies, shaded forest pathways, open gardens and shoreline vegetation together support a surprisingly diverse range of species.

To date, more than:

  • 25 species of birds
  • 11 species of butterflies

have been identified across the property.

These habitats allow wildlife to move freely throughout the day, creating natural corridors that are essential for feeding, nesting and migration. The result is an evolving landscape where no two walks are exactly the same.

Spotlight on the Buru Green Pigeon

Among the most notable species observed at Raffles Bali is the Buru Green Pigeon, classified as Near Threatened by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).

Recognisable by its soft green plumage and gentle demeanour, the bird has been sighted around key areas of the resort, including:

  • Loloan Beach Bar & Grill
  • The Farm Terrace
  • Gardens surrounding the two-bedroom villas

Sightings are never guaranteed and depend entirely on natural behaviour, weather conditions and seasonal patterns—an approach that aligns with the resort’s philosophy of respectful wildlife observation.

Guided by In-House Nature Curators

Wings of the Wild is led by Raffles Bali’s in-house curators, who guide guests on a 45- to 60-minute walk through the resort’s natural landscapes.

Each guest is provided with:

  • A monocular for wildlife observation
  • A compact field guide to assist with species identification

Along the way, guests may encounter bird species such as the Common Kingfisher, Javan Kingfisher and Collared Kingfisher, as well as butterflies moving through sunlit foliage and native plants.

Beyond identification, curators share engaging insights—ranging from bird behaviour and feeding habits to stories that reflect the deep connection between local wildlife and Balinese cultural traditions.

Education Without Disruption

Rather than overwhelming guests with scientific detail, the experience is designed to be calm, accessible and reflective. Stories and “fun facts” are delivered gently, encouraging curiosity while maintaining a serene pace suited to the resort environment.

When and How to Join

Wings of the Wild is offered on a regular schedule, with flexibility built in for guest preferences.

Experience details:

  • Days: Tuesday and Thursday
  • Time: 9.00am
  • Additional sessions: Late-afternoon walks available on request, subject to availability
  • Eligibility: Resident guests of Raffles Bali

Morning walks typically offer optimal light and activity levels for birdlife, while late-afternoon sessions provide a different atmosphere as species settle into evening rhythms.

A Broader Shift in Luxury Travel

The launch of Wings of the Wild reflects a growing demand for experiences that go beyond traditional leisure amenities. Today’s luxury travellers increasingly seek meaningful connections with place—whether through culture, cuisine or nature.

By embedding biodiversity into the guest experience, Raffles Bali positions conservation not as a side note, but as an integral part of its identity. The programme also aligns with broader sustainability goals in Bali, where responsible tourism plays a critical role in protecting fragile ecosystems.

Importantly, the experience allows guests to engage with Bali’s natural heritage in a way that is both immersive and low-impact—without the need for transport, crowds or external excursions.
