Wolfgang Puck’s iconic California dining brand Spago makes its China debut atop The St. Regis on the Bund, blending Hollywood glamour, refined cuisine, and sweeping skyline views

The St. Regis on the Bund, Shanghai, in partnership with the internationally acclaimed dining brand Spago by legendary chef Wolfgang Puck, has officially opened Spago Shanghai — a rooftop restaurant and bar perched on the 21st floor, offering a new perspective on the city’s skyline and dining scene.

The launch marks the Spago’s first foray into China and coincides with the first anniversary of The St. Regis on the Bund, Shanghai — a dual milestone celebrated in true St. Regis style. Distinguished guests, executives, and media attended the ribbon-cutting, led by Ingrid Zhu, Tarik Temucin, John LaGrone, Alan Jin, Bastian Breuer, and Duke Shi, who also performed the hotel’s signature sabrage ceremony, a moment of elegance and triumph.

At Spago Shanghai, diners can expect a menu that bridges California sophistication and Shanghai exclusivity. Signature dishes include Spago’s celebrated Smoked Salmon Pizza with caviar, Wiener Schnitzel inspired by Puck’s Austrian roots, Tuna Tartare in Sesame Cones, Miso Cod, Pumpkin Agnolotti with Mascarpone, Whole Sizzling Fish, and desserts like Spikey Lemon and Chocolate Soufflé — all hallmarks of modern indulgence.

The restaurant’s design, inspired by John Jacob Astor IV’s visionary novel A Journey in Other Worlds (1894), channels cinematic drama and timeless glamour. Bronze accents, travertine floors, and a pavilion-like ceiling recall Hollywood’s golden age, while the open kitchen transforms fine dining into a live performance. The terrace extends into a serene garden retreat, where bronze-framed doors and refracted light create an atmosphere of calm above the bustling Bund.

With its artful interiors, refined California-inspired cuisine, and panoramic views, Spago Shanghai embodies a cosmopolitan new chapter in the city’s culinary evolution — where creativity meets classicism, and hospitality meets artistry.
