TAP Air Portugal appoints José Eduardo Moreira as its new Chief Operating Officer

TAP Air Portugal has appointed José Eduardo Moreira as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO).

The appointment follows the resignation of Mário Chaves from the position. The airline confirmed the change after the Board of Directors decided to co-opt Moreira to the role.

José Eduardo Moreira Takes Over as COO

José Eduardo Moreira joined TAP Air Portugal in 1998. He currently serves as General Manager of Maintenance and Engineering.

During his career with TAP, Moreira has also held engineering positions in the Engine Maintenance and Engineering and Airworthiness departments.

His long experience with the airline brings extensive technical and operational knowledge to the COO role.

Mário Chaves Resigns as TAP COO

Mário Chaves joined TAP’s Board of Directors in 2023. He then took up the role of Chief Operating Officer.

During his tenure, Chaves led the airline’s operations and helped achieve new and higher levels of efficiency. His work received recognition both internally and externally.

The Board of Directors thanked Chaves for the commitment and dedication he has consistently shown to TAP. It also wished him every success in his future endeavours.

TAP Air Portugal UK and Ireland Routes

TAP Air Portugal currently operates flights from London Heathrow, London Gatwick and Manchester Airport in the UK.

The airline also flies from Dublin in Ireland. These services connect passengers with Lisbon and Porto.

From these Portuguese gateways, passengers can continue their journeys to destinations across Brazil, Africa, Madeira, the Azores, the USA and Canada.

TAP Stopover Programme

TAP Air Portugal also offers a stopover programme for passengers travelling on long-haul journeys.

The programme allows travellers to stop in either Lisbon or Porto for up to 10 days. There is no additional airfare for the stopover.

This gives passengers the opportunity to explore Portugal before continuing to their final destination.

TAP Air Portugal Leadership Change

The appointment of José Eduardo Moreira marks a new chapter for TAP’s operations leadership. His long-standing experience with the airline will now support his new responsibilities as COO.

Meanwhile, TAP has recognised Mário Chaves for his contribution to the airline and his role in improving operational efficiency during his tenure.
