Moxy Kuala Lumpur Chinatown

The historic Oriental Bank building on Jalan Hang Lekiu – a shining jewel of Kuala Lumpur’s heady ‘70s financial scene – has been masterfully reimagined as Moxy Kuala Lumpur Chinatown. This restored landmark now soars 21 storeys into the KL skyline, its original façade preserved like a time capsule and as an ode to the rocking ‘70s, while interiors burst with modern vitality.

Within its walls, 320 modishly cool rooms offers accommodations with a dash of Moxy playfulness.  The design narrative weaves in threads of Chinatown’s rich tapestry – from bold crimson accents, to murals blending heritage motifs with street art flair, all accented by playful neon installations that wink at KL’s famous night markets.

The lobby doubles as a social hub where check-in includes a welcome drink at Zone In; whereas Moxy’s all-day dining spot, Zone Out, provides breakfast and space to unwind or work. The property’s Bar Moxy evolves throughout the day as poolside lounging culminates in golden-hour cocktails and the soundtrack of the city’s pulse gradually shifts to welcome local nightlife.

For business travelers, the hotel offers a Tin Mine Club, a nod to Ipoh’s tin-mining heyday, providing a meeting space for groups up to 200 people.

The property offers a range of event spaces, including Ipoh’s largest pillarless ballroom. The Grand Ballroom accommodates up to 800 guests in banquet style or 1,600 in theatre seating. A Junior Ballroom holds 250 guests banquet style and 500 in theatre format.

Additional facilities include breakout rooms and the AC Genius Lab co-working space. Recreational amenities comprise a gym, swimming pool, and four indoor pickleball courts. Studio 88’s recording studios are also available as distinctive venues for both social and corporate events.
