Aimbridge Elevates Marriott Veteran Alex Fiz to Lead LATAM and All-Inclusive Growth Push
Alex Fiz

Aimbridge Hospitality, the world’s largest third-party hotel management company, has appointed Alex Fiz as President of its Latin America (LATAM) Division and All-Inclusive Division, effective March 2.

The move comes as Leandro Castillo, current President of Aimbridge LATAM, prepares to retire on February 28. Castillo will remain in an advisory role to ensure a seamless leadership transition across the region.

A Leadership Change at a Pivotal Moment for LATAM

Castillo leaves Aimbridge after a transformative tenure in which he strengthened the company’s regional footprint and built a more scalable LATAM platform. He also played a key role in launching Aimbridge’s dedicated All-Inclusive Division, created to meet the operational complexities of the fast-growing resort segment.

Craig S. Smith, CEO of Aimbridge Hospitality, praised Castillo’s impact:

“Leandro’s leadership has been instrumental in shaping our LATAM business. His decision to retire reflects thoughtful timing after years of building a strong foundation for the region.”

Smith added that the company remains bullish on both Latin America and the all-inclusive category:

“We see continued opportunity across LATAM and within our All-Inclusive division, and I’m excited about what lies ahead under Alex’s leadership.”

Who Is Alex Fiz — and Why He Matters to Aimbridge?

Fiz steps into the role with 34 years at Marriott International, bringing deep expertise in operations, commercial strategy, and resort management across Europe, Latin America, and the Caribbean.

Key highlights of his career include:

  • Leading Marriott’s all-inclusive strategy and operations across the Caribbean and Latin America
  • Overseeing a multi-million-dollar transformation of Marriott’s owned portfolio in Barbados, including:
    • Rebranding multiple resorts
    • Improving guest satisfaction scores
    • Delivering measurable financial performance gains

At Aimbridge, Fiz will now oversee both the LATAM and All-Inclusive portfolios, as the company doubles down on high-growth leisure and resort markets.

Aimbridge Signals Stronger Play in All-Inclusive & Leisure

Smith framed the leadership change as part of a broader strategic push:

“We see significant opportunity in LATAM and in the all-inclusive space, and we’ll earn that growth the same way we always do — through disciplined execution and a performance culture that creates incremental value for owners.”

For owners, operators, and investors, the appointment signals that Aimbridge is sharpening its focus on:

  • Resort destinations
  • Leisure-led travel recovery
  • Professionalised all-inclusive operations
