Fairmont Bangkok Sukhumvit opened in August 2026 as Fairmont Hotels & Resorts’ first hotel in Thailand. I stayed for two nights in September, shortly after the opening, in a Fairmont Gold Deluxe King, experiencing The Club Fairmont, Harper’s all-day dining restaurant, Aela Social Bar and Fairmont Spa, while also visiting CAYA Pool Club and taking a private hotel walkthrough with the Marketing team.
The timing of my visit was significant. The hotel had been open for only about a month and was still in its first phase of opening, with more facilities and dining concepts yet to be introduced.
Arriving at Fairmont Bangkok Sukhumvit
I arrived at around 2pm and was welcomed at reception by front desk staff Luna and Max.
When Max realised that I had booked a Fairmont Gold room, he personally escorted me to The Club Fairmont on the 14th floor so I could complete my check-in there.
At The Club, Michaella, the Club manager, handled the check-in efficiently and professionally.
Rather than going immediately to my room, I was eager to experience the afternoon tea service at The Club. Knowing this, Max helped take my luggage to the room so I could begin enjoying the Club service straight away.
I appreciated the gesture.
It was also my first indication that the enthusiasm of the staff would become one of the recurring themes of my stay.
The Club Fairmont: A Distinctive Gold Experience
The Club Fairmont, formerly known as Fairmont Gold, occupies the 14th floor and is designed as a spacious, residential-style executive lounge.
My first visit was for the afternoon service, followed later that day by evening cocktails and canapés. The space was comfortable and well designed, with the same sense of newness found throughout the hotel.
Afternoon Service
There was also plenty of choice.
The afternoon selection went well beyond a small collection of sandwiches and pastries, with savoury choices such as avocado tartines, salmon rillettes and Thai rice crackers alongside baguette, brioche and assorted pastries. Scones, madeleines, coconut and pandan roll cake, pomelo and rose tartlets and other sweets rounded out the spread.
Mango jam, pure Thai honey and local lychee jam were also available, adding some distinctly local touches to the spread.
The beverage selection was equally broad. Coffee choices included cappuccino, latte and hot chocolate. Coffee creations included Jasmine Velvet and Emerald Latte.
Guests could also choose from a range of soft drinks and Norwegian distilled or sparkling water.
The range made The Club feel less like a lounge intended simply for a quick pre-dinner drink and more like a place where guests could comfortably spend part of the day.
Evening Cocktails and Canapé
By evening, the offering changed considerably.
The evening spread was organised into different sections. The buffet featured cold dishes, cuts, Caesar salads and desserts. Pass-around canapés were also served.
A kitchen section offered hot dishes, including Carrara Wagyu beef, while the bar provided alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
The drinks complemented the food, with Champagne and other selections, including rum-based offerings, served in smaller portions.
The atmosphere also shifted as the evening progressed. Guests were chatting and laughing, creating a relaxed and convivial setting. I settled in with some Champagne and the food, and appreciated how the space felt more like a comfortable private gathering place than simply an executive lounge.
For me, this became one of the highlights of the stay.
Guests staying with Fairmont Gold privileges have access to breakfast, afternoon service and evening cocktails and canapés at The Club. Breakfast can also be taken at Harper’s on the second floor.
For travellers who value spending time in the hotel rather than using their room simply as a base, the Gold experience adds another dimension to the stay.
I also appreciated the attentiveness of the Club team, particularly Nanny, who was consistently eager to assist during my visits.
A Fairmont Gold Deluxe King
After spending time at The Club, I eventually went to my Fairmont Gold Deluxe King and began to appreciate another aspect of staying at such a newly opened hotel: everything was brand new in the truest sense.
The room was comfortable and calm, even though Bangkok outside was anything but quiet.
During the day, looking out from the room, I could feel the energy of the city. At night, Bangkok remained busy and brightly lit — a city that seemed never to stop.
Inside, however, the atmosphere was peaceful.
The room’s decor was well considered, with a comfortable bed and curtains that effectively kept out the city’s lights at night. I slept very well during both nights of my stay.
The bathroom was particularly well laid out.
There was a separate walk-in shower and toilet, a large rounded bathtub and two vanities. The walk-in shower had very good water pressure, while towels and bathrobes were thoughtfully positioned.
One small detail caught my attention: two pairs of slippers in different sizes were provided. It was a minor touch, but one that I regarded as attentive to guests’ needs.
The minibar was stocked with a selection of drinks and snacks, while the room temperature remained consistent throughout my stay.
I also particularly appreciated Fairmont’s World of DIFFERENCE environmental messaging, which was placed prominently beside the bed. Fairmont placed the message where guests could easily see it rather than confining it to the hotel’s general information materials.
Housekeeping was another strong point.
On both mornings, I returned from breakfast to find the room restored to what seemed like a pristine state. The room had been tidied, refreshed and prepared as though I had just checked in.
For a hotel that had been operating for only about a month, the level of housekeeping attention was reassuring.
Breakfast at Harper’s
Although I could have had breakfast at The Club Fairmont, I deliberately chose Harper’s on the second floor because I wanted to see how the hotel’s main all-day dining restaurant compared.
Harper’s is spacious, but the layout avoids making the restaurant feel like one enormous room. The main dining area is divided into different sections using partitions, creating smaller zones within the larger space.
The breakfast combines an extensive buffet with unlimited à la carte dishes prepared to order. Live cooking stations add another element, alongside artisanal breads and pastries, fresh fruit, cheeses, cold cuts and healthier options.
On my first morning, I selected the Continental Breakfast. On my second, I chose the buffet and Eggs Benedict.
Both were satisfying and gave me a reason to return to the restaurant rather than simply treating breakfast as another hotel buffet.
Plenty of choice was available at the buffet, while the à la carte component added another dimension to the meal. This combination meant that breakfast did not feel entirely dependent on what was sitting on the buffet when I arrived.
Overall, the F&B experience was one of the strongest aspects of my stay.
I found the food at both Harper’s and The Club genuinely good, rather than merely extensive.
CAYA Pool Club
The itinerary had scheduled sunset drinks and a casual dinner at CAYA Pool Club on my first evening.
I ultimately did not have the sunset drinks or dinner because I was already quite full after spending time eating at The Club and Harper’s.
Because I did not dine at CAYA, I would not judge its food or dinner service in this review.

Aela Social Bar
Later that evening, I visited Aela Social Bar on the lobby level.
The bar is nicely decorated, cosy and comfortable, with a more intimate atmosphere than the larger public areas of the hotel.
I had a Thai Basil Smash, a fragrant and zingy gin cocktail in which Thai basil adds a pleasant hint of aniseed.
It worked particularly well in Bangkok because it incorporated a recognisably local ingredient into a familiar cocktail format.
Aela also provides a useful contrast to The Club Fairmont. The Club is quieter and more residential, while Aela feels more like a social bar where guests can settle in for an evening drink.
Fairmont Spa: A Bespoke Massage Experience
On Sunday afternoon, I visited Fairmont Spa on the 12th floor for a signature treatment.
Thai massage is closely associated with the country’s wellness culture, and this was one experience I particularly did not want to miss during my stay in Bangkok.
The spa itself was well equipped and thoughtfully decorated. Different massage treatments are available, generally ranging from 60 to 90 minutes, with a selection of massage oils.
I chose the Bespoke Massage with Jasmine & Neroli Oil.
The treatment was pleasant and comfortable, and the choice of oil added another sensory dimension to the experience.
The spa also strengthened my impression that Fairmont Bangkok Sukhumvit is being developed as a full-service hotel rather than simply a new luxury accommodation option in Sukhumvit.
A Second Evening at The Club
I returned to The Club Fairmont on Sunday evening for cocktails and canapés.
The experience was again enjoyable.
By then, I had become familiar with the space, which made the evening feel even more relaxed. The combination of food, drinks, Bangkok views and the atmosphere among guests made The Club one of the places I most enjoyed spending time during the stay.
For a guest considering whether to book a Fairmont Gold room, this is where I would say the upgrade becomes particularly relevant.
The value is not only in the room itself. It is in having a dedicated place to begin and end the day, with breakfast, afternoon service and evening offerings incorporated into the experience.
A Private Look Around the Hotel
On my final morning, after breakfast at Harper’s for the second time, I joined a private hotel walkthrough with the Marketing team.
Raj, the hotel’s Director of Marketing, led the tour.
We started on the first floor, visiting the lobby, lobby lounge, private meeting areas within the lobby lounge, Aela Social Bar and one of the two ballrooms.
Raj explained that the ballroom balconies can be used for musical performances, as well as giving a client’s senior executives a place to make announcements or address employees and guests.
We then went to the second floor to see Harper’s all-day dining restaurant.
The tour continued to the wellness floor on the 12th floor, including Fairmont Spa and Fairmont Studio, the hotel’s fitness centre.
On the 14th floor, I visited the swimming pool, CAYA Pool Club, the kids’ club, Art Lounge and The Club Fairmont.
The walkthrough was useful because it allowed me to see the hotel as a complete operation rather than simply as a guest.
It also reinforced the fact that the property is still in an early stage of development.
Meeting General Manager Jérôme Lobier
During my stay, I also spoke with Jérôme Lobier for an interview.
Our conversation provided an opportunity to discuss the opening of Thailand’s first Fairmont, the hotel’s positioning in Bangkok and its development during this initial phase.

A Hotel Still in Its Opening Chapter
One of the most important things to understand about Fairmont Bangkok Sukhumvit is that the hotel I experienced is not yet the complete hotel it is intended to become.
The property was still in its first phase of opening during my September stay, with additional facilities and dining concepts due to be introduced.
That context matters.
Rather than judging the hotel against facilities that were not yet operating, I have focused on the parts of the property that I actually experienced.
The parts of the hotel that I experienced were already operating to a good standard.
The guestrooms were new and comfortable. The Club Fairmont provided a substantial Gold experience, with a broad range of food and beverages across its afternoon and evening services. Harper’s delivered a strong breakfast operation, combining buffet choice with à la carte dishes. Aela provided a comfortable cocktail setting, while Fairmont Spa added a developed wellness component.
The hotel plans to introduce more dining outlets as it moves beyond its opening phase.
Location: Exploring Bangkok from Sukhumvit
The location is another practical advantage.
Fairmont Bangkok Sukhumvit is around a 10-minute walk from Asok BTS Station, which makes it relatively straightforward for guests to connect with Bangkok’s BTS network and explore the city without relying entirely on taxis.
During my stay, I found the location convenient for moving around Bangkok.
For international travellers, the journey from the hotel to Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) took approximately 50 minutes by car. Actual travel time will of course vary according to Bangkok traffic, but the airport journey was manageable for my departure.
The hotel is also positioned in the Sukhumvit area, giving guests access to the wider neighbourhood’s shopping, dining and entertainment options.
The People Made the Difference
The strongest memory I took from Fairmont Bangkok Sukhumvit was ultimately not a particular room feature or piece of design.
It was the people.
Max personally escorted me to The Club when he realised I had Fairmont Gold status. Michaella handled the Club check-in efficiently. Nanny was consistently eager to assist during my Club visits.
The other staff I encountered were similarly enthusiastic and willing to help.
At departure, Kanwisit Sasithorn (Meaw), the hotel’s Commercial Director, and Lobier bid me farewell.
It was a gracious end to the stay, and one I genuinely appreciated.
Our Take
Fairmont Bangkok Sukhumvit is still in the early chapter of its story. When I stayed in September 2026, the hotel had been open for only about a month, with additional facilities and dining concepts still to come.
What was already operating, however, provided a comfortable and well-rounded stay. The Fairmont Gold (Club Fairmont) experience was a particular highlight, providing a relaxed setting for afternoon service and evening cocktails and canapés, supported by a notably broad selection of food and beverages.
Harper’s offered another substantial F&B experience, combining an extensive breakfast buffet with à la carte dishes, live cooking and a range of breads, pastries, fruit, cheeses, cold cuts and healthier choices.
The Fairmont Gold Deluxe King was comfortable and quiet, with a well-designed bathroom, good shower pressure and attentive housekeeping. Fairmont Spa added a pleasant Thai wellness experience, while Aela Social Bar provided a comfortable setting for an evening cocktail.
The location is practical too, with Asok BTS Station about a 10-minute walk away and Suvarnabhumi Airport approximately 50 minutes by car based on my journey.
Most memorable, however, were the people. From arrival to departure, the staff I encountered were attentive and eager to assist, giving the new hotel a sense of warmth that is particularly welcome during an opening period.
Fairmont Bangkok Sukhumvit is not yet the finished hotel it will eventually become. More facilities and dining concepts are still to come. But based on my experience during its opening phase, it has already established a comfortable stay, a substantial Fairmont Gold offering and a food and beverage operation that I genuinely enjoyed.
The hotel now has a foundation on which to build as the remaining facilities and dining concepts come online.
