Hyatt Hotels Corporation has appointed Amar Lalvani as its first Chief Creative Officer. He will also continue as President & Creative Director of Hyatt’s Lifestyle Group, effective immediately.
Lalvani will remain on Hyatt’s senior leadership team. He will report to Mark Hoplamazian, Hyatt’s Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer.
The appointment comes as Hyatt continues to develop a more insights-led and brand-focused approach. The company said its aim is to make each Hyatt brand more distinct and give guests a clearer reason to choose it.
In his expanded role, Lalvani will work across Hyatt’s global portfolio. He will focus on what each brand represents and how that identity comes through in design, experiences and culture.
He will also work with Hyatt leaders, developers and creative teams. In addition, he will collaborate with hotel owners to connect brand strategy more closely with the guest experience.
“Amar has a rare ability to uncover what is distinctive, understand what matters to people and turn those insights into experiences and brands that resonate,” said Mark Hoplamazian, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer, Hyatt. “As we continue to evolve Hyatt into a more brand-focused company, bringing that perspective across the enterprise is a natural next step. Great brands are built through thousands of choices, from the buildings we create to the experiences our colleagues deliver every day. Amar will help us make decisions with greater clarity and conviction, while keeping creativity close to the teams bringing each brand to life. Distinctive brands create value – they give guests a stronger reason to choose Hyatt, owners a stronger reason to invest with us, and help create the conditions for higher-quality growth.”
Amar Lalvani joined Hyatt in 2024
Lalvani joined Hyatt in 2024 after the company acquired Standard International. Hyatt then appointed him President & Creative Director of its newly established Lifestyle Group.
He brought the teams behind The Standard and Bunkhouse Hotels to Hyatt. Those businesses became the foundation of the Lifestyle Group, which is headquartered in New York City.
Lalvani has more than 25 years of experience in hospitality. During his career, he has developed and expanded hotel brands and experiences.
Earlier, he led global development for W Hotels. He later acquired The Standard brand and formed Standard International.
At Standard International, Lalvani helped expand The Standard from a small hotel collection into a global brand. He also expanded the company through Bunkhouse Hotels and developed concepts including The StandardX and The Manner.
Lalvani to oversee creative direction across Hyatt brands
Lalvani said his expanded role will build on Hyatt’s purpose of caring for people so they can be their best.
“I have been moved by Hyatt’s purpose: we care for people so they can be their best,” said Lalvani. “The opportunity now is to make that care more distinct, relevant and memorable through each of our brands. The exciting part is that Hyatt has extraordinary hotels, brands and people. Our job is now to bring greater clarity and conviction to what makes each one special, and then make that real in every detail of the experience. I’m grateful for the trust placed in me and excited to get to work.”
