InterContinental Taipei opens at the Taipei Dome complex in Xinyi District, expanding IHG’s luxury hotel portfolio in Taiwan

IHG Hotels & Resorts has opened InterContinental Taipei at the Taipei Dome complex in Xinyi District, expanding the group’s luxury hotel portfolio in Taiwan.

Developed in partnership with Farglory Group, the 347-room property marks the partners’ second InterContinental collaboration, following InterContinental Kaohsiung. The opening also adds to IHG’s Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio in Greater China, alongside the recently signed Hualien Farglory Hotel, Vignette Collection.

Located in Taipei’s Xinyi District, the hotel offers access to the area’s business, cultural, dining and entertainment facilities. Its amenities include seven dining concepts, restaurants led by chef Akira Back, event spaces, an indoor swimming pool, a fitness centre and Club InterContinental.

Rooms, Suites and Dining at InterContinental Taipei

Classic Rooms start at approximately 38 square metres, with selected rooms offering views of Taipei 101. Meanwhile, residential-style suites start at approximately 76 square metres and include a full kitchen, dining area and in-suite laundry facilities.

The hotel’s design follows the concept “In Taipei, For Taipei,” drawing on the city’s architecture, culture and collective memory. These references appear in elements ranging from the lobby installation to musical motifs incorporated into the event spaces.

The opening coincides with the 80th anniversary of InterContinental Hotels & Resorts. InterContinental Taipei serves as the brand’s flagship property in Taiwan, catering to international travellers and local guests for business, leisure and social occasions.

IHG Expands Its InterContinental Portfolio in Taiwan

Robbert Manussen, Area General Manager, Luxury & Lifestyle, Taiwan market, IHG, and General Manager of InterContinental Taipei, said:

“Taipei is a city of extraordinary energy and modernity, but also one defined by a distinctive sense of warmth and an exceptionally rich way of life. Our ambition is for InterContinental Taipei to be more than a hotel in Taipei; it should feel like a hotel that belongs to Taipei. We want the hotel to become a gateway into the city: a place where international travelers can experience Taipei more deeply, and where local guests can discover new ways to enjoy the city they call home.”

With the new opening, IHG’s InterContinental portfolio in Taiwan comprises four properties. InterContinental Kaohsiung opened in 2021, followed by InterContinental Taichung in 2024 and InterContinental New Taipei Hot Spring in 2025. The latter was the brand’s first hot spring resort in Taiwan.

Together, these properties extend the brand’s presence across urban centres and resort destinations, serving both domestic and international travellers.

IHG’s Outlook for Taiwan’s Hospitality Market

IHG expects Taiwan to remain a market with long-term hospitality potential, citing its cultural heritage, diverse tourism offering and appeal to regional and international visitors.

As traveller demand shifts towards more differentiated, experience-led trips, the group says it will continue working with owners and partners to expand in selected destinations. Its stated approach is to combine its international hotel brands with experiences tailored to local markets.
