José Silva, newly appointed Chairman of Maybourne Hotel Group
José Silva, newly appointed Chairman of Maybourne Hotel Group

José Silva has been appointed Chairman of Maybourne Hotel Group, bringing more than four decades of luxury hospitality experience to the operator behind some of the world’s most renowned hotels.

Silva joins Maybourne following his tenure as Chief Executive Officer of Jumeirah Group, where he played a key role in transforming the Dubai-based company from a regional luxury hospitality leader into a more globally recognised brand.

The appointment comes as Maybourne enters its next phase of international growth. The group is expanding its portfolio across hotels, residences, experiences and wellness while maintaining its focus on luxury service, design and guest experiences.

José Silva Brings Four Decades of Luxury Hospitality Experience

Silva has built a career spanning Europe, North America and the Middle East. Before joining Jumeirah, he spent almost 25 years with Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts in a series of senior leadership roles.

One of his most notable positions was General Manager of the Four Seasons Hotel George V in Paris. During his tenure, the hotel’s restaurants collectively earned five Michelin stars, further strengthening the property’s position among Europe’s leading luxury hotels.

Silva subsequently became Regional Vice President for Europe at Four Seasons. In that role, he oversaw operations across France, Switzerland, Spain and Portugal.

His responsibilities included strategic planning, operational performance, executive development and relationships with hotel owners. He was also named Virtuoso’s Hotelier of the Year during his Four Seasons career.

From Jumeirah CEO to Maybourne Chairman

Silva later joined Jumeirah Group as Chief Executive Officer, where he was responsible for the company’s international expansion and broader brand development.

His tenure at Jumeirah marked an important period in the group’s evolution as it sought to establish itself as a global luxury hospitality brand beyond its Middle Eastern roots. His appointment as Maybourne Chairman now brings that experience to another established luxury hotel group.

Silva’s career has consistently focused on luxury positioning, strategic expansion and the development of distinctive guest experiences. These priorities align closely with Maybourne’s approach as the group continues to expand its portfolio.

Maybourne’s Next Phase of Global Growth

Maybourne Hotel Group currently operates a collection of iconic luxury properties, including Claridge’s, The Connaught and The Berkeley in London, as well as The Maybourne Beverly Hills and The Maybourne Riviera.

The group is also preparing to add The Emory in London to its portfolio, further expanding its presence in the luxury hospitality market.

Against this backdrop, Silva’s appointment places an experienced luxury hospitality executive at the group’s leadership level as Maybourne pursues its next stage of growth.

His experience across established luxury brands could prove particularly valuable as Maybourne balances international expansion with the distinctive character and service standards associated with its hotels.

A Strategic Appointment for Maybourne

For Maybourne, Silva’s appointment represents more than a change in leadership. It brings together his experience in luxury hotel operations, brand transformation and international expansion with a hospitality group built on more than two centuries of heritage.

As Maybourne develops new hotels, residences, experiences and wellness offerings, Silva will help guide the group while preserving the service, design and guest experience that underpin its luxury positioning.

José Silva’s appointment as Chairman therefore marks a significant new chapter for Maybourne Hotel Group as it looks to strengthen its global luxury hospitality presence.
