Kaohsiung International Airport Takes Off with SITA’s Next-Gen Passenger Technology
The comprehensive deal includes Common Use Self-Service (CUSS) kiosks for quick passenger check-in and bag tag printing

Kaohsiung International Airport’s new seven-year agreement to deliver faster check-in, smoother boarding, and future-ready airport operations

Kaohsiung International Airport (KHH), Taiwan’s second-largest international gateway, is stepping up to redefine the passenger journey as air travel across Asia soars to new heights. The airport has signed a seven-year partnership with global aviation technology leader SITA to deliver smoother, smarter experiences from check-in to boarding — setting a new benchmark for next-generation travel in the region.

The collaboration will see Kaohsiung Airport deploy next-generation passenger processing systems that streamline every step of the journey. Travelers can look forward to quicker self-check-in and bag tag printing at new CUSS kiosks, faster airline processing through shared CUTE counters, and more seamless departures thanks to a resilient Local Departure Control System (LDCS) that keeps flights on schedule even when main airline systems face disruptions.

It’s a forward-looking move that blends technology and traveler comfort — helping airlines operate more efficiently while ensuring passengers spend less time waiting and more time enjoying their journey.

“Across Asia, passenger numbers are climbing fast, and airports are under pressure to deliver efficient operations without compromising the travel experience,” said Sumesh Patel, President, Asia Pacific at SITA. “By embracing next-generation passenger processing, Kaohsiung is setting a new benchmark for how airports can combine speed, resilience, and flexibility.”

This milestone also cements SITA’s position as the trusted technology provider for all of Taiwan’s international airports, strengthening its long-term partnership with the region’s aviation sector.

Behind the scenes, the addition of LDCS offers a crucial layer of stability — ensuring smooth boarding and on-time departures even during system outages or peak travel rushes. For passengers, that means fewer delays and a more reliable airport experience overall.

“Our focus is on improving operations across all touchpoints while preparing our airport for future growth,” said Guojie Hu, CTO of the Kaohsiung International Airport Airlines Operation Committee (AOC). “By expanding our shared systems with SITA, we’re enhancing efficiency, reducing congestion, and building a more connected, resilient airport for travelers.”

The partnership also represents a broader regional trend — airports across Asia embracing scalable, tech-powered solutions to meet growing travel demand while keeping the passenger experience at the heart of innovation.
