The Executive Board of Deutsche Lufthansa AG has appointed Lorenza Maggio as the new Chief Executive Officer of Brussels Airlines. The appointment remains subject to approval by the Board of Directors of SN Airholding.
In addition to leading the Belgian carrier, Maggio will also serve as Executive Board Representative to the European Commission. She succeeds Dorothea von Boxberg, who is leaving the company at her own request, effective 31 August 2026. The date of Maggio’s transition from Rome to Brussels will be announced in due course.

Lorenza Maggio brings extensive Lufthansa Group experience
Lorenza Maggio, 48, an Italian national, has served on the Board of Directors of ITA Airways since January 2025. As Chief Strategy and Integration Officer, she oversees the airline’s integration into the Lufthansa Group while leading its long-term strategic development.
Previously, she served as Vice President Sales for the Lufthansa Group’s network airlines across Europe (excluding home markets), the Middle East, and Africa. Earlier in her career, Maggio led brand and customer strategy at Eurowings, adding further experience in commercial leadership and customer engagement.
Her appointment reinforces Lufthansa Group’s strategy of promoting experienced internal executives to key leadership positions while strengthening the integration of its European airline portfolio.
