Luxury Group by Marriott International has unveiled “The Liquid City,” the latest chapter of its celebrated “The Culinary Atelier” series. The immersive mixology journey brings together acclaimed bartenders and hotel talent to explore cocktail culture, regional identity and creative collaboration across Greater China.
Designed to elevate fine drinking experiences, the multi-city series invites travelers and cocktail enthusiasts to discover iconic destinations through their flavors, traditions and cultural stories. From Hong Kong’s tea heritage and Shanghai’s glamorous past to Suzhou’s poetic character and Macao’s Euro-Asian influences, each participating venue presents cocktails inspired by its distinctive sense of place.
“Through ‘The Liquid City,’ we are celebrating craftsmanship, cultural storytelling and culinary innovation,” said Bart Buiring, Managing Director, Luxury, Greater China, Marriott International.
“By bringing together world-class mixology icons with our exceptional hotel talent, we are proud to offer our guests an unforgettable sensory journey.”
A Collaboration of Leading Mixology Talent
At the heart of “The Liquid City” is a lineup of internationally recognized mixologists, each contributing a distinctive creative perspective to the collaborative menus.
The participating talent includes:
- Amanda Wan of Hong Kong, a celebrated bartender from The Opposites, known for her precise approach to flavor and artful cocktail creations.
- Hwi Yun of Seoul, from Bar Cham, which ranked No. 33 on Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2026. His work focuses strongly on cultural storytelling and local identity.
- Alvin Sung Jaya and Anthony Luis of Jakarta, representing Carrots, ranked No. 21 on Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2026. Alvin is known for contemporary, culinary-driven cocktails, while Anthony brings an appreciation for classic cocktails and Chinese gastronomy to the partnership.
Together with resident bartenders from Marriott’s Luxury Group hotels, the guest mixologists will develop bespoke menus that combine global creativity with authentic local ingredients and influences.
Four Cocktails Inspired by Each Destination
Each participating venue will offer a collection of four bespoke cocktails. The selection includes three signature creations inspired by the guest mixologist’s home bar, alongside an exclusive city special developed with locally sourced ingredients.
Among the highlights is “Pillow Confessions,” inspired by Macao’s iconic Portuguese egg tart and served at The St. Regis Bar at The St. Regis Macao. The venue was also recognized among Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2026.
Meanwhile, “Night Silk” brings together coffee, fig and brandy at FLAIR at The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai, Pudong. At OZONE at The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong, guests can discover “Bubble Trouble,” an egg waffle-inspired brandy cocktail.
These creations aim to translate the culinary character of each destination into a distinctive drinking experience.
Culinary Pairings Extend the Experience
The journey goes beyond cocktails. Culinary teams at the participating hotels have also created up to three exclusive bar-bite pairings to complement the drinks.
Selections include Handmade Ningbo Rice Cake and Red Osmanthus at Liquid at W Shanghai – The Bund. Guests at The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai, Pudong can enjoy Shanghai River Shrimp with Garlic and Soy Cucumber.
At The St. Regis Hong Kong, the pairing menu features Yukhwe, a Korean-style raw beef dish prepared with perilla, egg yolk and kimchi.
Following the live guest shifts, the specially curated cocktail menus will remain available at participating hotel bars for a limited time, allowing more guests to experience the collaboration.
