Warm up this winter at Zoku’s alfresco Terrace with the return of its Sukiyaki Cheese Fondue—served with premium ingredients, skewers, tempura and sake pairings

Fondue returns to Zoku at The Hari Hong Kong as the city cools down, with the comeback of its much-loved Sukiyaki Cheese Fondue. Back by popular demand after last year’s sell-out success, this indulgent seasonal experience blends Japanese sukiyaki flavours with rich Swiss cheeses—perfect for relaxed get-togethers and festive evenings.

The limited-time menu will be served at The Terrace, Zoku’s lush alfresco bar, every Thursday to Saturday from 6pm to 9pm, starting 5 December 2024 through 31 January 2026.

A Winter Favourite Returns With a Japanese–Swiss Twist

The highlight of the experience is the signature Sukiyaki Cheese Fondue, a silky blend of Swiss Emmental, Tokachi cheese, and premium sake. Simmered together in a hot pot, the creamy base becomes the centrepiece for a selection of savoury dippables designed for sharing.

Guests can enjoy the winter treat in the heart of Wan Chai, surrounded by greenery and framed by a dramatic three-storey living wall—a rare oasis of calm set against one of Hong Kong’s most eclectic neighbourhoods.

Sweet Finishes & Warm Winter Drinks

The fondue journey wraps up with a delightful duo:

Zoku also offers a curated beverage pairing menu featuring warm winter favourites. Highlights include:

Signature cocktails and champagne offer additional festive cheer.

A Stylish, Atmospheric Setting in the Heart of Wan Chai

Designed for both intimacy and conviviality, The Terrace combines natural greenery with chic details—orange bubble-glass tealights, fluid linens, aqua textiles, and marble accents. As an extension of Zoku, the alfresco space mirrors the restaurant’s modern Japanese aesthetic.

Inside Zoku, guests will find a warm, atmospheric dining room with:

  • Leather-fluted booths
  • Crimson velvet banquettes
  • Bar lounge chairs
  • Pink bubble-glass tealight holders
  • Hand-stitched orange fringe lampshades
  • A striking ceiling of angled timber slats inspired by origami

Meaning “clan” in Japanese, Zoku’s design philosophy blends craftsmanship, community, and contemporary Japanese culture.

A Modern Take on a Centuries-Old Gathering Tradition

The fondue experience traces its roots to 18th-century Switzerland, where melted cheese dishes brought families together during cold winter months. The name derives from the French fondre—“to melt”—symbolising warmth, comfort, and community.

This season, The Hari Hong Kong channels that tradition with a unique Japanese–Swiss interpretation, turning the classic fondue into a creative, communal ritual perfect for winter evenings.

“We are thrilled to reintroduce our Sukiyaki Cheese Fondue this winter,” said Francesco Gava, Food and Beverage Director at The Hari Hong Kong. “Its success last year confirmed how much our guests appreciate creative, communal dining experiences, so it felt only natural to bring it back.”
