The repositioning will extend the long-standing relationship between Harilela Group and IHG Hotels & Resorts, while bringing The Hari brand into IHG’s global luxury portfolio.
The Hari London, The Hari Hong Kong and the forthcoming The Hari Singapore are set to join IHG Hotels & Resorts’ Vignette Collection, a global portfolio of independent luxury and boutique properties.
The repositioning is expected to take effect later this year. It builds on a strategic relationship between Harilela Group and IHG Hotels & Resorts that spans more than five decades and extends the partnership to six hotels across Asia and Europe.
For The Hari, joining Vignette Collection will provide access to IHG’s global scale and loyalty ecosystem while allowing the brand to retain its distinctive identity and independent character.
The Hari to Make Vignette Collection Debut in Singapore
Vignette Collection enables independent luxury and boutique hotels to maintain their individual identities while benefiting from IHG’s global network, distribution and loyalty programme.
Hotels joining the collection must meet specific criteria centred on design, guest experience and positive contributions to their local communities.
When The Hari Singapore opens in spring 2027, it will become Vignette Collection’s first property in Singapore.
The Hari London and The Hari Hong Kong opened in 2016 and 2020 respectively. The three properties will bring the brand’s design-led approach and distinctive hospitality style into IHG’s growing collection of independent luxury hotels.
A Focus on Design, Art and Local Experiences
The Hari brand was founded by Dr. Aron Harilela, Chairman and CEO of Harilela Group, and is built around a combination of relaxed elegance, art, culture and personalised hospitality.
Designed by acclaimed British interior designer Tara Bernerd, each The Hari hotel features layered interiors and rotating art collections showcasing both established and emerging local artists.
The hotels also place a strong emphasis on helping guests discover their destinations beyond conventional tourist experiences.
At The Hari London, insider guides introduce guests to the Belgravia neighbourhood, while The Hari Hong Kong offers experiences such as Wan Chai By Night. The brand also features The Hari Neighbourhood Guide Audio Tour, designed to reveal hidden gems, local characters and lesser-known traditions.
“We distilled the Harilela Group’s collective experience into a brand that reflects the qualities we always sought in a great hotel,” said Dr. Harilela.
“The Hari embodies relaxed elegance punctuated by eccentricity, wit, culture and intuitive, heartfelt hospitality. Joining the Vignette Collection preserves The Hari’s character while connecting our brand to a global community of travellers who value individuality and authenticity.”
Supporting Art and Local Communities
The Hari’s commitment to its communities extends beyond the guest experience.
The annual The Hari Art Prize, supported by donations from the Harilela family, champions emerging artistic talent. The hotels also hold EarthCheck certifications and maintain partnerships with charitable organisations.
These initiatives align with Vignette Collection’s focus on meaningful experiences and positive community impact through its Memorable Rituals and A Means For Good pillars.
“The Hari expresses these ideals through genuine, heartfelt hospitality and impeccable service steeped in my family’s decades-long hospitality legacy,” said Dr. Harilela.
“Our design-led hotels serve as gateways to the art, culture and communities that define their destinations.”
IHG Expands Vignette Collection in Asia
The addition of The Hari portfolio further expands Vignette Collection’s presence across Asia and Europe.
“With more than 80 open and pipeline hotels, Vignette Collection is tracking ahead of its ambition to reach more than 100 hotels within its first decade,” said Rajit Sukumaran, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, East Asia & Pacific, IHG Hotels & Resorts.
“Welcoming The Hari’s portfolio marks Vignette Collection’s debut in Singapore and strengthens our presence in London and Hong Kong.”
The partnership also represents another step in the long-standing relationship between IHG and Harilela Group, which has spanned more than 50 years.
