YOTEL is expanding its presence in Asia Pacific, with new hotels planned for Thailand and Malaysia as the hospitality brand pursues a global growth strategy that could triple its portfolio.
Founded in London in 2007, YOTEL currently operates 24 hotels worldwide. The group targets internationally mobile travellers seeking convenient locations, technology-enabled rooms and value-oriented accommodation in major cities.
In October 2026, the brand opened YOTEL Bangkok Sukhumvit, marking its entry into Thailand. It plans to open YOTEL Kuala Lumpur City Centre in early 2027, extending its presence into Malaysia.
Asia Pacific is central to the company’s expansion plans, which include new-build hotels, conversions of existing properties and adaptive reuse projects across the region.
Asia Pacific Drives YOTEL’s Expansion Plans
YOTEL operates hotels in cities including New York, Washington, DC, San Francisco, Amsterdam, Edinburgh, Istanbul, Tokyo, Singapore and Bangkok. Its airport portfolio includes properties at Singapore Changi, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Amsterdam Schiphol, Istanbul and London Gatwick.
Following the Bangkok opening, the company plans to add Kuala Lumpur to its network in early 2027. These properties represent the fourth and fifth YOTEL hotels in Asia, following YOTEL Tokyo Ginza, YOTEL Singapore Orchard Road and YOTELAIR Singapore Changi Airport.
The company sees opportunities for all three of its brands across Asia Pacific:
- YOTEL focuses on city-centre hotels combining contemporary design with technology-enabled features.
- YOTELPAD caters to longer stays in urban destinations and resorts.
- YOTELAIR serves airport travellers, including those with early departures or late arrivals.
YOTEL’s expansion strategy includes both new-build developments and the conversion or adaptive reuse of existing buildings.
Hilton Agreement Expands YOTEL’s Distribution
In March 2026, YOTEL signed an exclusive agreement with Hilton, becoming the first brand in the newly established Select by Hilton collection.
Under the agreement, YOTEL retains its independent identity. Participating properties can also connect to Hilton Honors, the group’s loyalty programme, and Hilton’s distribution network.
According to YOTEL, 11 hotels have completed integration with Hilton’s platforms, including YOTEL Bangkok Sukhumvit. The company expects additional properties to become available through Hilton’s booking channels by the end of 2026.
The arrangement gives YOTEL access to Hilton’s commercial infrastructure while allowing it to maintain its independent ownership, operations and brand identity.
Smart Room Design and Technology
YOTEL developed its concept with inspiration from aviation and first-class airline travel. Its rooms use space-saving furniture and technology to make efficient use of available space for both leisure and business travellers.
A key feature is the SmartBed™, which converts from a couch into a bed at the touch of a button. Rooms also include blackout blinds and mood lighting designed to support sleep.
YOTEL’s own research in 2025 found that one in three guests chose the brand because of the quality of sleep they experienced during their stay.
Other standard room features include rain showers, Urban Jungle amenities, Smart TVs that allow guests to stream content from their own devices, and multiple power outlets and USB points.
The company also uses technology in heating, lighting and cooling systems as part of its sustainability efforts. YOTEL says it aims to achieve LEED Gold certification for all new-build projects.
Robots Support Hotel Operations
Several YOTEL properties use robots to assist with guest services and hotel operations.
At YOTEL New York, YOBOT handles luggage. At YOTEL Singapore Orchard Road, Yoshi and Yolanda deliver amenities to guest rooms.
The company says these systems allow hotel staff to spend more time interacting with guests while robots handle selected service tasks.
Dining and Social Spaces Across YOTEL Hotels
YOTEL uses several food and beverage concepts to provide spaces for dining and socialising.
Komyuniti, found across the brand’s Asian properties, serves as a multifunctional central hub within the hotel. Vela is a casual, full-service restaurant combining local dishes with international flavours.
Meanwhile, Deck provides an outdoor social space, often located on a rooftop or beside the water.
These concepts form part of the brand’s approach to combining accommodation with shared spaces for guests.
YOTEL Targets Digitally Connected Travellers
YOTEL caters to guests of different nationalities and age groups, including leisure travellers, business travellers and those combining work with a holiday.
The company describes its target audience as digitally fluent and socially active travellers who value convenience, connectivity and affordable accommodation. Its properties are designed to support guests who work while travelling and rely on digital services to stay connected.
Phil Andreopoulos, CEO of YOTEL, said Asia Pacific offered opportunities for further expansion.
“Asia Pacific offers great opportunities for YOTEL. The rise of low-cost airlines and simplified visa regulations has led to a surge in intra-Asian travel and created strong momentum for short-stay trips. The success of our properties in Singapore and Tokyo – and early indications from Bangkok – show that YOTEL’s vision of smart, lifestyle-focused hospitality is resounding with the region’s travellers. What’s more, our new agreement with Hilton brings unmatched global distribution and loyalty scale to our brand and business. We look forward to introducing YOTEL to more of the region’s most dynamic gateway cities in future, with Kuala Lumpur coming next.”
The planned Kuala Lumpur opening will be the next step in YOTEL’s Asia Pacific expansion, as the company pursues opportunities across its city hotel, extended-stay and airport hotel concepts.
