Da Nang leads domestic searches, while Bangkok ranks first among international destinations for Vietnamese travelers.
Digital travel platform Agoda has revealed the most-searched domestic and international destinations among Vietnamese travelers for the upcoming National Day holiday. Da Nang ranks first domestically, while Bangkok leads the international list.
Vietnamese travelers will have five consecutive days off from 29 August to 2 September for this year’s National Day holiday. The extended break provides an opportunity to travel within Vietnam or take an international trip.
The rankings are based on accommodation searches made on Agoda between 1 May and 31 July 2026 for stays between 28 August and 2 September 2026.

Coastal Destinations Lead Domestic Searches
With the National Day holiday falling toward the end of summer, the five-day break gives Vietnamese travelers an opportunity to visit coastal and cooler destinations before autumn begins.
Da Nang and Nha Trang take the top two spots in Agoda’s domestic ranking. Vung Tau, Phan Thiet, Phu Quoc Island and Ha Long Bay follow in fourth, sixth, ninth and tenth place, respectively.
Overall, coastal and island destinations account for six of the ten most-searched domestic destinations. The results point to continued interest in seaside trips during the holiday period.
Dalat ranks third and is the highest-ranked highland destination. Its cooler climate and scenic surroundings offer an alternative for travelers seeking milder weather during the late-summer break.
Meanwhile, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi rank fifth and seventh. The two major cities remain part of travelers’ holiday plans, with dining, shopping, entertainment and cultural attractions among the options available to visitors.
Hue takes eighth place and adds a heritage-focused destination to the domestic list. The former imperial capital is home to the UNESCO-listed Complex of Hue Monuments and offers historical, architectural and cultural experiences.
During this year’s National Day holiday, Hue is also scheduled to host Hue Wonderverse Music Fest 2026 from 30 August to 1 September. The event will bring contemporary music and cultural programming to the city’s heritage setting.
Urban Destinations Dominate International Searches
For Vietnamese travelers planning to leave the country, urban destinations account for nine of the ten most-searched international destinations.
The list includes major cities across Southeast Asia and Northeast Asia. Bangkok leads the ranking, followed by Seoul, Singapore and Tokyo.
Taipei, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur also feature in the top 10. Together, these destinations provide a range of city-break options centered on food, shopping, entertainment and cultural attractions.
Bali is the only island destination in the international top 10. Alongside its beaches, the destination offers nature, wellness, local culture and dining experiences, providing an alternative to the region’s predominantly urban destinations.
Osaka rounds out the international ranking in tenth place. The city also provides access to the wider Kansai region, allowing travelers to combine a visit to Osaka with nearby cultural destinations such as Kyoto and Nara.
