Hilton has officially opened The Green Leaf Niseko Village, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, marking the lifestyle brand’s debut in Japan and strengthening Hilton’s premium presence in Hokkaido as demand for high-design, experience-led winter resorts continues to grow.
Located at the base of Mount Niseko Annupuri within Niseko Village Ski Resort, the 200-room hotel operates exclusively during Niseko’s renowned White Season, offering ski-in, ski-out access to some of the world’s most sought-after powder terrain.
A Strategic Milestone for Hilton in Japan
The Green Leaf Niseko Village becomes the first Tapestry Collection by Hilton property in Japan, joining a global portfolio of more than 180 lifestyle hotels defined by individual character and locally inspired design.
Its opening further supports Hilton’s expanding lifestyle strategy in the country, alongside Canopy by Hilton Osaka Umeda, upcoming Canopy hotels in Okinawa and Tokyo, and a second Curio Collection by Hilton scheduled to open in Kyoto by 2028.
A Winter Sanctuary at the Foot of Mount Annupuri
Designed as a calm, lodge-style retreat, The Green Leaf Niseko Village blends nature, culture and craftsmanship into a winter-focused hospitality experience.
With direct access to Niseko Village Ski Resort, guests are positioned to explore the mountain by day, before returning to interiors inspired by Niseko’s alpine landscapes—warm, grounded and intentionally restorative after time on the slopes.
Art, Culture and a Strong Sense of Place
The hotel places a strong emphasis on artistic storytelling through collaborations with local creatives.
Highlights include:
- 200 works by painter Soichiro Tomioka displayed throughout guestrooms and corridors
- Tomioka’s signature winter landscapes, created using his self-developed pigment “Tomioka White,” capturing the purity of Japanese winter light
- Murals and hand-drawn graphics by Sapporo-based artist Emi Shiratori, featured across lobby spaces, spa façades, guestroom doors, ski lockers and room keys
Shiratori’s contemporary interpretations of Niseko’s wildlife appear throughout the property, turning everyday guest touchpoints into curated design elements. Guests previously had the opportunity to witness her creative process during an on-site artist residency.
Narrative-Led Interior Design
The hotel’s refreshed interiors were designed by Champalimaud Design, the New York–based studio known for narrative-driven hospitality spaces.
Drawing inspiration from Niseko’s mountain environment, the design uses natural materials, sculptural forms and warm textures to create interiors that respond intuitively to seasonal change, balancing craftsmanship, comfort and a strong connection to nature.
Individually Designed Rooms and Suites
The Green Leaf Niseko Village offers 200 rooms and suites characterised by natural textures, artistic details and design-forward layouts.
Key features include:
- Direct ski-in, ski-out access
- A tranquil indoor-outdoor onsen surrounded by natural stone
- Design elements reflecting the spirit and landscape of Mount Annupuri
Dining and Social Spaces for the Winter Season
Dining and social spaces are designed to support the rhythm of a winter resort stay.
Culinary highlights include:
- Goshiki, the hotel’s signature restaurant, serving Japanese and Western cuisine with à la carte lunches and international buffet dinners featuring live stations
- Tomioka White, a lobby lounge centred around a signature fireplace, offering coffee, après-ski gatherings, light bites and cocktails
- Takeaway breakfast options for guests heading directly to the slopes
Guests also enjoy access to additional dining venues within Niseko Village, including Hilton Niseko Village and Niseko-Yo.
Onsen and Wellness Rooted in Place
Wellness is a core component of the guest experience.
The Green Leaf Onsen:
- Fed by a 100% natural hot spring emerging at 53.2°C
- Water cools naturally before flowing into baths at 270 litres per minute
- Separate indoor and outdoor baths for men and women
- A Rotenburo (open-air bath) surrounded by snow-covered pines and natural boulders
The onsen experience is particularly atmospheric at dusk, when falling snow and alpine twilight define Niseko’s winter setting.
Juhyo Spa:
Named after the region’s iconic snow-covered trees, Juhyo Spa blends Japanese hospitality with European sports science. Tailored treatments focus on recovery, restoration and preparation for active mountain days. A fully equipped fitness centre complements the wellness offering.
