Marriott International and SomeraRoad have unveiled The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Brooklyn Heights, a new residential development at 98 Montague Street in Brooklyn Heights.
The project will occupy the former 14-story Hotel Bossert, a Renaissance Revival building that originally opened in 1909. Construction is expected to begin later this year, with completion anticipated in 2029.
SomeraRoad, a New York- and Nashville-based opportunistic real estate investment and development firm, acquired the property in 2025.
The development will bring The Ritz-Carlton Residences brand to Brooklyn Heights. According to Marriott, it will be the 50th standalone residence in the brand’s global development portfolio.
Restoring the former Hotel Bossert
Hotel Bossert was designed by New York architecture firm Helmle & Huberty. Over the years, the property hosted celebrities, business leaders and championship athletes.
It also famously hosted the Brooklyn Dodgers’ 1955 World Series celebration.
SomeraRoad has assembled architects, designers, preservation specialists and hospitality collaborators for the redevelopment. The team plans to restore the building while adapting it for residential use.
The Renaissance Revival building features a geometric patterned brick façade, a sculpted granite and limestone base, and an ornate terra-cotta cornice. Other details include arched double-height windows, cast-iron railings and lion’s head keystones.
According to the developers, these architectural elements will be restored as part of the project.

Ritz-Carlton Residences enters Brooklyn Heights
The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Brooklyn Heights will offer privately owned residences alongside Ritz-Carlton-branded services and amenities.
Residents will have access to a 24-hour-attended lobby and dedicated residential services. The project will also include amenities focused on wellness, leisure and entertaining.
Marriott said residents will receive access to benefits across its portfolio through the company’s Residence Owner Recognition Program, ONVIA.

Union Square Hospitality Group to open restaurant
Union Square Hospitality Group (USHG), founded by Danny Meyer, will open its first full-service Brooklyn restaurant on the building’s ground floor.
The restaurant is planned to serve both residents and the surrounding Brooklyn Heights community.
According to the project partners, residents will have access to private entertaining opportunities and curated culinary experiences connected to the restaurant.
Sales launch ahead of 2029 completion
Construction is expected to commence later this year, with completion anticipated in 2029.
