An icon of Park Avenue Waldorf Astoria New York reclaims its place as Manhattan’s cultural beacon with restored venues, expansive accommodations, world-class dining, and a new Guerlain Wellness Spa

Waldorf Astoria New York today unveiled its celebrated Grand Ballroom and iconic heritage event spaces, following a masterful restoration that anchors the hotel’s glamorous reopening season. The debut marks the return of one of New York’s most legendary addresses as a centerpiece of society, culture, and hospitality.

For over a century, Waldorf Astoria has been the stage for history—from hosting the first Tony Awards and early Met Galas to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. Today, the restored Grand Ballroom, Silver Corridor, Astor Salon, and Basildon and Jade Rooms reclaim their role as settings for the city’s most spectacular events.

“Waldorf Astoria New York has served as the backdrop for so many significant moments across history,” said Danny Hughes, President, Americas, Hilton. “Today, we unveil the next chapter—once again, this ballroom will be the center of New York’s social scene, blending timeless elegance with a bold vision for the future of luxury events.”

Iconic Event Venues Restored

With 43,000 square feet of event space across 14 rooms, Waldorf Astoria New York continues its legacy as a premier stage for weddings, galas, and cultural milestones. Restored by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) with interiors by Pierre-Yves Rochon (PYR), the venues preserve original Art Deco details while integrating modern technologies.

  • Grand Ballroom – A three-story, 1,500-guest landmark space featuring restored luminescent cove lighting, landmark balconies, and cutting-edge staging, lighting, and rigging.
  • Basildon Room – An 18th-century-inspired venue with paneling imported from Basildon Manor, restored to its original elegance with custom carpets and color treatments.
  • Silver Corridor – A striking passageway with 16 restored Edward Emerson Simmons murals, functioning as both gallery and gateway.
  • Astor Salon – Known for hosting Cole Porter and George Gershwin, refreshed with natural light and restored columns, accommodating up to 420 guests.
  • Jade Room – A soaring space of marble colonnades and abundant daylight, hosting 420 guests and seamlessly connecting with the Grand Ballroom.

Accommodations & Signature Suites

Reimagined as a 375-room hotel with 372 residences, Waldorf Astoria New York now offers some of Manhattan’s largest accommodations, with most guestrooms exceeding 570 square feet. Designed as private apartments with distinct living, working, and sleeping zones, interiors balance Art Deco inspiration with contemporary luxury.

This fall, five specialty suites debut, including the Manhattan Suite with full kitchen and dining room, the Empire Suite with expansive living spaces, and the Waldorf Astoria Suite, the property’s most opulent, evoking an 18th-century Parisian residence overlooking Park Avenue.

Guerlain Wellness Spa

Opening later this year, the 20,000-square-foot Guerlain Wellness Spa introduces 16 treatment rooms, including VIP suites, alongside a 7,000-square-foot fitness center. Treatments are designed around Guerlain’s four pillars—Nutrition, Movement, Sleep, and Mindfulness—uniting beauty, health, and longevity with advanced therapies such as cryo chambers and Amphibia Welnamis treatments.

Culinary Highlights

Dining remains a cornerstone of the Waldorf experience:

  • Peacock Alley returns as the hotel’s iconic gathering spot.
  • Lex Yard, led by Chef Partner Michael Anthony, serves expressive seasonal dishes such as Royal Ocsiètre Gold Caviar Sando and Slow-Poached Halibut.
  • Yoshoku, by Chef Ry Nitzkowski, offers a Japanese-inspired fine dining journey blending kaiseki tradition with New York flair.

Waldorf Astoria Residences

Above the hotel, 372 residences designed by Jean-Louis Deniot offer private Midtown living with access to more than 50,000 square feet of amenities including the Starlight Pool, Winter Garden, Presidential Library and Bar, and Empire Club. Residents enjoy priority access to hotel services through private lobbies and a dedicated porte-cochère.
