Singapore Airlines next-generation KrisWorld in-flight entertainment system
Singapore Airlines will introduce next-generation KrisWorld entertainment and Starlink connectivity on selected aircraft from 2027.

Singapore Airlines (SIA) will introduce a next-generation in-flight entertainment system and high-speed satellite connectivity, with new features designed to give passengers more choice and flexibility during their journeys.

The upgraded KrisWorld system will include 4K touchscreen displays, spatial audio, Bluetooth headphone pairing, a redesigned interface and a new wellness planner. Passengers will also have access to more than 2,500 entertainment options.

The upgrades will roll out on 41 retrofitted Airbus A350-900 long-haul and A350-900ULR aircraft from 2027. SIA will also install the system on its upcoming Boeing 777-9 aircraft.

Meanwhile, the airline plans to introduce Starlink satellite broadband on selected Airbus A380 and A350 aircraft from early 2027. The service will support activities such as video streaming, gaming, social media and online work.

Yeoh Phee Teik, Senior Vice President Customer Experience at Singapore Airlines, said: “Our customers told us that they wanted more choice and flexibility in how they spend their time on board, as well as entertainment and connectivity that fit more naturally into their journey. This guided the development of SIA’s next-generation KrisWorld and connectivity offering, which make it easier to discover and enjoy content, stay in touch with loved ones, and move seamlessly between entertainment and other activities during the flight.”

The new entertainment system and connectivity services form part of a broader cabin and service upgrade. SIA plans to unveil its next-generation travel experience in Singapore in November 2026, alongside new long-haul cabin products, refreshed dining options, updated amenities across all cabin classes and enhanced ground services.

Next-Generation KrisWorld: Screens and Audio

The upgraded KrisWorld system will offer larger, high-resolution displays and enhanced audio, with specifications varying by aircraft and cabin class.

First Class will feature 32-inch 4K touchscreens. Business Class displays will measure up to 22 inches, while Premium Economy screens on the Boeing 777-9 will measure up to 16 inches. Economy Class screens on the aircraft will measure up to 13 inches.

Selected aircraft will also feature OLED displays. The screens are designed to provide sharper images, improved contrast and clearer picture quality.

Spatial audio technology will add a three-dimensional sound experience across all cabin classes. The system aims to improve the clarity and depth of audio for films, music and other entertainment.

Headphone options will vary by cabin. First Class passengers will receive Bang & Olufsen Bluetooth wireless headphones with active noise cancellation. Business Class and Premium Economy passengers will have active noise-cancelling headphones, while Economy Class passengers will receive wired earphones.

Passengers can also pair compatible personal Bluetooth headphones with KrisWorld.

Redesigned Interface and Children’s Content

The new KrisWorld interface will feature clearer menus, larger icons and improved search and filtering tools to help passengers find entertainment.

A mini-player will allow passengers to continue watching a video while browsing other content. They will also be able to create shortcuts to preferred media categories.

In addition, a sidebar will display real-time flight information, including the time remaining until arrival and weather conditions, without interrupting viewing.

For younger passengers, Kids’ Mode will provide a simplified interface and a selection of children’s films, television programmes and music.

More Than 2,500 Entertainment Options

Passengers will be able to choose from more than 2,500 entertainment options, including Hollywood films, international cinema, regional productions, full-season television box sets, music and podcasts.

The content selection includes programmes from Apple TV, BBC, CNA, HBO Max, iQIYI and Paramount+. Live news and sports will also be available through the BBC News and Sport 24 television channels.

SIA will refresh its entertainment library monthly. The airline says its selections will reflect customer feedback and viewing trends, with content spanning multiple languages and genres.

Personalised Settings Across Flights

On retrofitted A350-900 long-haul and A350-900ULR aircraft, as well as the Boeing 777-9, First Class and Business Class passengers will be able to save preferred seat positions for dining, relaxing and sleeping.

They can then apply those settings on future flights. First Class passengers will also be able to save their preferred lighting settings.

Passengers who log in to KrisWorld using their KrisFlyer accounts will receive personalised recommendations, resume programmes from previous flights and save favourite titles for future journeys.

They will also be able to check connecting-flight details, including gates and terminals, for onward Singapore Airlines flights departing from Singapore.

New Wellness Planner

The upgraded system will include a wellness planner with sleep and meditation audio, breathing-exercise videos, light in-seat stretching routines and articles on healthy living.

It will also recommend seat positions and lighting settings for First Class and Business Class passengers. Beverage suggestions across cabin classes will form part of the wellness features.

SIA will progressively introduce Starlink’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband service on its Airbus A380, A350-900 long-haul and A350-900ULR aircraft from early 2027.

The airline has not yet confirmed connectivity plans for its other fleets.

Starlink will provide high-speed internet access from take-off to landing, allowing passengers to stream content, use social media, play games, keep in touch with family and friends, and work online.

Eligible passengers will continue to receive unlimited complimentary Wi-Fi on Starlink-equipped aircraft. These include passengers travelling in Suites, First Class and Business Class, as well as PPS Club members and KrisFlyer members travelling in Premium Economy and Economy Class.

Charging options will also vary by aircraft. USB-C ports will be available on the Boeing 777-9 and the retrofitted A350-900 long-haul and A350-900ULR aircraft. First Class and Business Class passengers will also have access to wireless charging pads.
