TransNusa, the Asia-Pacific region’s Premium Service Carrier, has officially launched its long-awaited direct scheduled service between Jakarta, Indonesia, and Bangkok, Thailand. The inaugural flights took off today, adding significant capacity to one of Southeast Asia’s busiest travel corridors with a twice-daily schedule from day one.
Datuk Bernard Francis, Group Chief Executive Officer of TransNusa, described the launch as a strategic response to growing travel demand.
“Today’s launch of the Jakarta–Bangkok route represents a strategic move to meet the growing demand for leisure and business travel to Thailand from Indonesia.
“By launching with twice-daily services, we aim to provide greater flexibility for our customers while further strengthening connectivity, trade, and regional tourism ties between our two countries.”
He added that the Jakarta–Bangkok route has long been one of the region’s busiest international air links.
The new service marks another milestone in TransNusa’s international expansion, complementing its existing routes to Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Perth, and Guangzhou. Flights operate between Soekarno-Hatta International Airport and Suvarnabhumi Airport using Airbus A320 aircraft.
High-Frequency Service from Day One
Unlike many airlines that begin new international routes with only a few weekly flights, TransNusa has launched the Jakarta–Bangkok service with two daily departures.
The morning and afternoon schedules are designed to provide greater flexibility for business travellers, leisure visitors, and digital nomads while reducing the need for lengthy layovers or inconvenient connections.
Strengthening ASEAN Tourism Cooperation
Beyond the new route, TransNusa recently strengthened its partnership with Thailand by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) on August 4.
Datuk Bernard Francis signed the agreement with TAT Governor Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool during the Indonesia–Thailand Business Forum. The ceremony was witnessed by H.E. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, highlighting the importance of the partnership in supporting bilateral tourism and economic cooperation.
Commenting on the collaboration, Datuk Bernard Francis said the agreement would strengthen air connectivity while encouraging tourism growth between the two countries.
“Thailand remains one of the most popular destinations for Indonesian travellers, and we see significant opportunities to further enhance accessibility and travel convenience through our expanding flight network.”
He added:
“Through our collaboration with the TAT, we aim to introduce more promotional initiatives that encourage Indonesians to visit Thailand while delivering an easier, more comfortable, and more rewarding travel experience for our customers.”
According to Datuk Bernard, the partnership is expected to strengthen both the Jakarta–Bangkok and Bali–Phuket routes while creating additional opportunities for the tourism industries of Indonesia and Thailand.
He also noted that the collaboration aligns with TransNusa’s long-term strategy of expanding international connectivity through partnerships that deliver meaningful benefits for travellers.
Award-Winning Growth
The new route follows a period of rapid growth for the airline.
In May 2026, TransNusa became the first Indonesian airline to receive the Top Airlines by Absolute Passenger Growth – Southeast Asia award at the Changi Airline Awards 2026. Presented by Changi Airport Group, the award recognised the airline’s passenger growth after only 17 months of operations at Singapore Changi Airport.
More recently, TransNusa signed its first Memorandum of Understanding with the Singapore Tourism Board to further strengthen tourism and air connectivity between Singapore and Indonesia.
Since relaunching its brand in 2024, the airline has expanded to 19 international scheduled routes in just two years. It has also continued growing its Bali–Perth operation, increasing services to 21 weekly flights in response to rising demand. Within 16 months, TransNusa became the second-largest airline serving the route by flight frequency.

Jakarta–Bangkok Flight Schedule
The new service operates twice daily in both directions.
Flight 8B381 departs Jakarta at 08:20 and arrives in Bangkok at 11:45, while 8B385 departs at 16:30 and lands at 19:55.
Return services 8B382 and 8B386 leave Bangkok at 12:30 and 20:40, arriving in Jakarta at 15:55 and 00:05, respectively.
