Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa Names Angela Vickers Director of Meetings & Events

Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa has promoted longtime team member Angela Vickers to Director of Meetings & Events, reinforcing the luxury waterfront hotel’s leadership team as Monterey continues to attract growing demand for meetings, incentive travel, and coastal events.

Perched directly above the waters of Monterey Bay along the iconic Cannery Row, the hotel said Vickers’ appointment reflects both continuity and experience at a time when California coastal destinations are seeing renewed interest from group and luxury travelers alike.

Vickers has spent 13 years with the property, building her hospitality career through multiple operational and sales leadership roles. Her journey began in 2013 as a Reservations Agent before advancing to Group Rooms Coordinator, Executive Meeting Manager, Catering & Conference Services Manager, and later Senior Meeting & Events Manager.

Her experience spans group sales, food and beverage coordination, conference services, and event operations — areas increasingly important as hotels compete for higher-value meetings and experiential corporate gatherings.

Throughout her tenure, Vickers has received several internal recognitions for leadership and performance, including Manager of the Quarter in 2018, Top Producer in 2019, and Manager of the Year in 2022.

The hotel also credited her with helping rebuild and strengthen the Meetings & Events division following the pandemic period, supporting the property’s reopening strategy and evolving event offerings.

Located in the heart of Monterey’s tourism district, Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa remains one of the region’s best-known luxury retreats, attracting both leisure travelers and corporate groups with its oceanfront setting, wellness facilities, and conference capabilities.

Outside of work, Vickers enjoys outdoor activities including hiking and kayaking, along with exploring Monterey County’s live music scene, restaurants, and wineries.

Why This Appointment Matters

The promotion comes as coastal California destinations continue to compete for premium meetings and incentive travel business. Hotels with experienced in-house event leadership are increasingly positioned to benefit from the return of smaller luxury gatherings, executive retreats, and experience-led corporate events.

For Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa, promoting from within also signals long-term operational stability and brand continuity — factors that remain important for meeting planners and returning group clients.
