Waldorf Astoria Kuala Lumpur hotel
Waldorf Astoria Kuala Lumpur features 268 residential-style suites in the city’s Golden Triangle district.

Waldorf Astoria Kuala Lumpur has opened in the Malaysian capital, marking the brand’s debut in the country. Operated by Hilton, the all-suite hotel features 268 suites ranging from 80 to 745 square metres.

Located in the Golden Triangle’s Bukit Bintang district, the property combines residential-style accommodation with dining, wellness and event facilities. Its design also incorporates elements of Malaysian art, craftsmanship and cultural heritage.

Alan Watts, president, Asia Pacific, Hilton, said: “Waldorf Astoria has long represented the pinnacle of luxury, with a heritage of setting the standard for exceptional hospitality around the world. From Park Avenue in New York to The Bund in Shanghai, the brand is synonymous with legendary addresses that become places to see and be seen. Waldorf Astoria Kuala Lumpur carries that legacy forward in the heart of the Golden Triangle, with an all-suite experience that brings a distinctive residential character to one of Asia’s most dynamic cities.”

Dino Michael, senior vice president and category head, Hilton Luxury Brands, said: “Kuala Lumpur’s cultural richness and energy make it a compelling setting for Waldorf Astoria’s Malaysian debut. The hotel brings an extraordinary sense of space, artistry and occasion to the capital, with the personal service that turns a remarkable setting into a memorable stay. It reflects the ambition behind Waldorf Astoria’s global expansion: hotels that contribute to the social life of their cities and become places guests form a lasting attachment to.”

Malaysian Heritage Shapes the Hotel’s Design

A central feature of every Waldorf Astoria property is its signature clock, which reflects the brand’s heritage and serves as a meeting point for guests under the invitation, “Meet Me at the Clock”.

At the Kuala Lumpur property, the sculptural timepiece draws inspiration from historic Islamic astrolabes in the collection of the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia. Made from bronze and illuminated glass, it incorporates Art Deco influences and uses light to trace the passing hours.

The clock stands at the entrance to Peacock Alley, the brand’s signature social space. The Kuala Lumpur interpretation combines stone-clad columns, high ceilings and Songket-inspired textiles. The space transitions from a daytime lounge to an evening gathering venue.

The hotel’s wider art collection was curated in collaboration with the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia. Highlights include a monumental 19th-century painting of Qajar princes in the Grand Lobby, alongside works by Malaysian artists displayed throughout the property.

The 268 suites were designed by Deboss Collective, which incorporated natural stone, warm timber, woven textiles and handcrafted finishes. Bespoke joinery and details inspired by traditional Malay marquetry also feature throughout the accommodation.

Suites range from 80-square-metre one-bedroom units to the 745-square-metre Waldorf Astoria Suite. All feature dedicated living and sleeping areas, as well as floor-to-ceiling views of the Kuala Lumpur skyline.

The residential-style concept is designed to accommodate longer stays and multigenerational travel, with an emphasis on space, privacy and shared living.

Dining Concepts Feature International Chefs

The hotel’s dining programme includes restaurants and bars developed around the culinary concepts of chefs Garima Arora and Jean-Georges Vongerichten.

At The Istana, guests can have breakfast, while Yaari serves Indian cuisine shaped by Arora’s culinary approach.

Vongerichten’s concepts include JG KL, abc kitchens KL and The Bar by JG. Together, the venues cover different dining occasions, from market-to-table cuisine to drinks and social gatherings.

Additional lounges and social spaces offer afternoon tea, cocktails and evening dining.

Waldorf Astoria Spa Covers 2,275 Square Metres

The Waldorf Astoria Spa occupies 2,275 square metres across two floors. Its wellness programme is built around the concepts of The Science of Recovery and The Art of Longevity.

The facilities offer personalised treatments by La Prairie and a Masters in Residence programme featuring specialists in osteopathy, fitness, nutrition, yoga, Pilates, Traditional Chinese Medicine and facial reflexology.

Through private consultations, workshops and other experiences, guests and members can access specialist expertise throughout the year.

Wellness amenities also extend into the suites. Each accommodation includes a yoga mat and Digital Detox Card to encourage movement and time away from digital devices.

An in-suite wellness kit includes resistance bands, massage balls and a mini foam roller. Weights are also available upon request.

The hotel’s signature Waldorf Astoria Kuala Lumpur Ritual, created exclusively for property guests by La Prairie, combines guided breathwork, intuitive massage and warmed gemstones.

Meanwhile, The Wellness Private Bar offers face and eye masks, with a TheraFace LED mask available upon request.
